That's what 42-year-old Karl Peters, a Cleveland, Ohio native, is suggesting. "Watching game 5 at the Jake (Jacobs field), it just didn't make sense. It seemed like the batters knew what pitch was coming and were teeing off on them as they came." Indeed others have come forward, asking for explanations. "This isn't about sour grapes or anything like that," 36-year-old Monica Banks said, after the last loss by the Indians, "This is about playing fairly. You don't outscore the Indians 30-5 in the last three games, after Cleveland totally dominates your batters the last three games. Someone made adjustments out there, Boston knew it was time to show or go, and yeah, I think they cheated."
After last night's lopsided 13-1 win against the Colorado Rockies in Game One of the World Series, the Boston Red Sox have outscored opponents 43-6, leading some to question whether or not they have indeed had some kind of 'help'.
"I'd really like there to be an investigation." Banks added.

As a Cleveland fan, I must say those are some really intense allegations. However, the flip side of it is that the Indians also began to demonstrate poor hitting and sloppy fielding. I began to wonder if the Indians dropped a few games because their level of performance seemed to drop considerably from the previous games. I found it more questionable that Wedge left Sabathia in for at least 1-2 innings too many and that Skinner stopped Lofton at third. I think those were two very big managerial mistakes. If someone were stealing signs, why not do it long before Game 5? I guess it is possible but I think there are other explanations as well such as our team failed to deliver the knockout punch and I am a huge Indians fan.

Isn't about sour grapes! Sure sounds like it to me. Did the Indians steal signs the night they scored 13 against Boston? Come on Indian fans you guys had it in your hands and lost. I am an Angel fan so I know the feeling of losing a series to Boston after being up 3-1 (1986). I notice it was a couple of fans making the accusation. I haven't heard anything from the Cleveland players or coaching staff about it. I'm sure that if something were fishy they would have had suspicions. I never played pro ball but played from age 8 - 26 and if someone is stealing your signs you get a pretty good inkling of whats happening fast and you change them.
BTW - I also hate the Red Sox and their pompous, bat flipping, were so cool style and am hoping they lose to the Rockies. However I would need a lot more evidence to throw the cheat card at them.

Is this from the Onion? If so you should ADMIT to your sources. If not, sure sounds like it.
Past that EVERYONE IN BASEBALL STEALS SIGNALS. Nothing wrong with that end. The idea is to do it and not get caught or they will switch the signal count on you. Yes they put in FAKE SIGNALS as well, knowing that others are trying to steal the signal. Listening to a Pirates game one time when the Pirates announcers deciphered the count. They were announcing what the pitch was going to be BEFORE the pitch was thrown, they knew it would be a fastball or sinker or such. Now if an announcer could figure it out, then wouldn't the first base coach? If you want to get on the Patriots, as the point would be, then they were VIDEO-TAPING the signals. There is a difference between figuring them out and using them and taping the signals.

Do you have a link to this story? Some people like to make up fake news stories to create a controversy. I'm not calling you a liar because I don't know, but if you could provide a link it would help.
If it's real, then this Monica Banks sounds like a hypocrite to me. She said " You don't outscore the Indians 30-5 in the last three games, after Cleveland totally dominates your batters the last three games."
So when the Red Sox beat the Indians it's because they're cheating, but when the Indians beat the Red Sox it's because they're dominant?

I honestly don't know what to say to that. Can't a team win because they're good? Do opposing team fans really need to blame wins on stealing signals?
I think its a pathetic excuse as to why the Red Sox have been doing so good. The Red Sox don't need help. They have an amazing pitching staff and some of the best batters in the league.
Give it a rest...just enjoy the game...

I think the Red Sox are guilty of stealing souls, taking candy from urchin hands, faking the moon landing, corrupting Rudy Giuliani's brain, increasing the cheese:whine ratio 793%, and influencing kids to grow unsightly facial hair.
But, no, sign stealing is not part of the equation.

Its been happening for years. The thing of it is most teams change their signals up. In the playoffs they change them often. If it was the case in the Indians/ Sox series I am disappointed that Cleveland obviously didn't change anything up. I still hate Boston. And I am sure Mitchell had nothing to do with the Byrd story either you over zealous Sox fans. Go Yankees that's what I say to you!
For all the Sox fans out there crying sour grapes ... dont blame this guy/girl ... it was just a question. For all you know they me be a Sox fan just being curious of what people thought of the accusations!

It's call watching film. When you have a good hitting line up like the sox do I can see why it would look that way. Honestly a good hitter knows how he will be pitched based off of how fielders are playing them. If their playing you to pull then chances are their comming inside. And how would a hitter know what the sign was for a pitch that is about to be pitched if the catcher just gave it. Theres not enough time to relay the info back to the hitter even with video and a mic because of the time delay. He'd be getting the sign mid pitch. A base runner on second is the only way and that has been part of the game forever.

Good lord...now they are cheating...so lets see now...if I am to believe Indian fans the Red Sox paid off the umps, stole signs, got lucky...anything else? My question is...so where they doing this all season or did the best record come from skill? You know the Indians won three games in a row and had a blow out game also...did they cheat? The Sox offense is playing its best baseball and that is what the Indians ran into...just deal with the fact that you got beat by a better team...honestly...don't be such sore losers...have SOME dignity.
