I think you have it! If you dream it you can achieve it!
I am living the American Dream. I can from an honest family of very little means. I was instilled values that were priceless. I learned that working hard and seizing the opportunities we have available that you really can be all you want to be.
I worked hard at my job and put my self through college while raising two children on my own. My dreams were fulfilled, I know and worked with many in my shoes who have done the same thing and it all paid off in a good, and rewarding career in medicine.
Many have excercised their right to go for, life liberty and the pursuit of happiness!

A place to stay, enough to eat, somewhere old heroes can walk safely down the street, where you can speak out loud about your doubts and fears, on one ever disappears, you never get that standard issue 'kick in the door'. Where you can relax on both side of the tracks, maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control and no one kills the children anymore. Night after night the whole world turns away and this dream is driving me insane. In the corner of some foreign field, the gunner sleeps tonight. What's done is done but you can't just wright off this finale scene: take heed of the dream!

A nice house in a safe neighborhood, a satisfying job, children and a family, a nice car, enough money to have the necessities and then some, enough time to enjoy it all.

No political correctness. Freedom is becoming the American Dream, because of political correctness, I'm afraid.

it's a nice myth, like communist paradise, winning the lottery
it's reserved for 1 or 2% of the population, which on 280millions people, that gives still 3 to 6 millions who have the reality, for the rest, they are still dreaming
not counting all the homeless (+/- 1 000 000 people) who dream of a couple of newspapers and a can of soup

The "American Dream" means absolutely nothing to me. Seeing as minorities were never meant to participate in it in the first place.
Then again it is also just a pipe dream. To chase after something so intangible is asinine.
