Arnold Schwarzenegger has proven to be what one might call a Republicrat. In the heavily-Democratic California, he was re-elected with a wide margin. With the advice of his wife, Maria Shriver, of the Kennedy clan, he has toned down the more radical Republican ideas and has pleased the Democratic majority of California. During the fire emergency, Arnold has been steadfastly non-partisan.

He has said, "What is wrong with taking the good ideas from one side and the good ideas from the other?"...an unheard-of position in the Republican world and one that has made him unpopular among the more radical Conservatives.

Because Arnold was born in Austria, he cannot become President, because our Constitution forbids foreign-born people to run for this office. But, would a non-partisan peace-maker like Arnold, if elected President, help unify the people of this country? Is it possible to find that Uniter after all?

You mean Governor Benedict Arnold? The person we voted for when Grey Davis was recalled? The same Arnold that promised to help "Calefornea" out of the mess Davis left it?

The Arnold that has gone back on every promise he made? The Arnold that arranged to get thousands of new firetrucks after the devastating 2003 fires but only ordered 195, that haven't arrived yet? The Arnold that is allegedly a Republican but is more like his liberal in-laws?

If you are talking about an Arnold that is an answer to our problems, we are talking about a different Arnold!

I don't know where you are from but you are very wrong about Arnold. Most Californians KNOW that Governor Benedict Arnold is a liar and an @sshole! I voted for him twice since the alternative was worse. (Kind of sounds like why I voted for Jorge Bush.)

Nice question, very provocative. Being united is only helpful if you are united behind a winning strategy.

Germany was united under the National Socialist party known as Nazis.

Socialism is hard at work destroying economies around the world. The fact that Arnold has more or less sold out to Democratic Socialists in Californian is hardly cause to celebrate.

Horah for the great non partisan fire speeches, how about asking a real question like:

"How come the world's 7th largest economy has to wait 3 days for a large fire plane?"

Seriously, we should have a fleet, with a 20 minute launch window.

Arnold is unelectable because he has lost his conservative base, who correctly feel that the last thing we need for a leader is another Austrian Socialist.

It has become painfully clear to Conservatives that what Democrats mean by non-partisan is: "No Republican input required".

Do you actually know ANY radical Republican ideas Arnold has proposed? Go ahead, take your time, think of one.

My suspicion is you feel any Republican idea is, by definition, radical. Nice question though, very provocative.

I think the Governator means well and apparently has the funding, but I just don't think he has the background....and I'm not talking brains. Reagan didn't really have the connections that a lot of other politicians do, but he was "The Great Communicator".....this (communication) is also something that Arnold is lacking....for some people, he is hard to understand with the Austrian accent...Again, I think he means well and is doggone sure trying, but he comes off (to me at least) as more Jessie Venture as Governor than a 'typical' governor might be.

Yes ; Arnold is loved and respected by the general public.
And he is an honest republican - he made a few promises that he has not been able to deliver 100%
It's a damned shame that out of 350,000,000 people we do not have a really patriotic & knowlegeable (please the majority) candidate for the presidency.
Sometimes a foreigner turns out to be more patriotic and dedicated to America than a natural born citizen.
The problem is that no one, can please everybody.
Foreigners have nothing to lose by coming to work and help build America.
10% of all races is criminally minded and they inevitably give a black spectrum to the others.
Some races are of a higher percentage.
A foreign born president would be a farther shame to our population.

Excuse me, my dear!

arnold is beholdin' to the republicans and even though bush & cheney have slapped him across the face many times, he still goes back begging with his hat in his hand to the other dictator wannabes.

Anybody who is the son of a nazi ss officer and the grandson of a man who designed nazi concentration camps for hitler, is no good, in my book.

The fruit never falls far from the vine!

arnold has even said that he admires hitler and other dictators.

You don't believe it?

Go rent the documentary "pumping iron" and you will hear him tell how if anybody gives him the chance he likes to lead them down the "wrong path", but please watch the entire documentary because at the end you will see him with a glass of wine in one hand and a joint in the other.

Yes, a joint - er - a marijuana cigarette.

Have you seen all the adult photos of him posted on the internet from his porno days?

When asked about these things arnold said it was OK for him to do them because he was young.

I think that is a step in the right direction. However, Arnold met with Dick Cheney before Gray Davis' recall. Gray was going to look into tha California energy mess- which was related to Enron and Cheney. I appreciate Arnold trying to help from various angles, but he's part of the problem.

The day the people of this country elect a foreign born man whose father was a high ranking Nazi to be our president is the day I hide my family somewhere safe. Like Alaska!

besides arnold, we need to ammend that in the constitution, we have so many immigrants who contribute to the betterment of the US better than some of the native born (God knows how many native born can answer the entrance exam the legal immigrants take). If the candidate really cared about the job they are asking for, they would put their plan for change out there to have it acted on and then the public would elect them for coming up with the idea in the first place. But they hide their agenda, get into office and lie about getting the job done (90's healthcare initiative, 60's welfare reform, 50's civil rights agenda). I don't agree with everything Arnold says or does, but I do agree with his fiscal policy, I do agree with his enviromental ideas and I think because of the road he traveled to get to Governator, he does appreciate the fact he is an American with certain freedoms that are not available elsewhere. I would vote for an ammendment to include naturalized citizens and I would give Arnold serious consideration.

No.It is impossible to unite the people.Too many people have figured out that they can vote money into their pockets, and the rest of the people howl with rage, and justifiably so,at the redistribution of their wealth.(meaning forcibly taking money they earned and giving it to lazy people who are a blight on this society)As long as welfare and social security exist there will always be divisions among the people and the unscrupulous politicians will widen those divisions just as they are doing now.

Because normally when people are quoted saying that they have just done some seriously messed up crime usually murder or hate. However i went on google and found some good examples: (Which should raise a few eyebrows) God told me to build a church God told me to sell my house and give it to the church God told me to buy a lottery ticket God told me I would win the game But you dont here the following: God told me to go to my local neighbourhood and feed starving children God told me to travel to africa and build a well God told me to shun money God told me to sell my house and move to brazil and open an orphanage God told me X was praying for help to GO TO THEM and offer help in my name. You see when they say god told me its usually about THEMSELVES its NEVER about others. God does not exist and never told anyone to do anything, there own imagination may well have been insane at the time.
