Baudrillard would say no and I tend to agree with him. We're given options. We can choose which image we think might fit us, but we are not allowed to choose outside of the wrelm of acceptable images. Society restricts true freedom. For instance, we are free to choose our mate, but only within the perameters of acceptablity. I couldn't for instance choose my grandmother (shutter).
That said, I genuinely believe that as we are wired as social animals, most of us prefer not to be totally free. The perameters that society provides us, lend an artifical gravity and meaning to our lives.
Anology, when hiking, most prefer to stay on the trail. It tells us where we can go and gives us an idea of where we will end up. Leaving the trail gives us more freedom however most of us don't like the feeling of being lost. Unsure of direction or destination.
Those who are allowed freedom without accountablity within our culture, (i.e. politicians and celebraties) don't generally strike me as being happier than the rest of us.
In summery, freedom is impossible because we as a species do not with it to be.

Do you know what an expired opportunity is? You lose more freedom the more opportunities expire before you are able to realize their potential good for you. What would happen if you needed a toilet and your opportunity expired, you would have underwear full of chit. That is what tyranny can force on you. If you are forced out of contemporary technology, there are no toilets, but you may have the dignified opportunity to go behind a bush and learn the old fashion way.
The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative.
