Hi can someone help i managed to connect my wireless router to the internet after sevral hours and calls to belkin.
now it is not secuerd. does this mean that my vista computer is not secuerd i did ask them at belkin but i didnt understand there reply.Do i have to set up a security key through my computer or through the belkin utility.
my belkin router is 54g f5d7632-4 i am new to computing so am not sure what to do.
i have avg. security is this enough to keep it safe

Yeah, wireless is a REAL PAIN to get going.. and to be honest, if your PC is right next to the wireless router, you might as well connect using the (usually blue wire) cable that came with the Router and turn off the wireless function (via the Belkin utility software)

Anyway, if you really need wireless, then if your PC can connect to the Belkin router via wireless, what's to stop some-one else doing the same thing ?

Yep == it's the Security Key ..

Plainly for this to work, then BOTH your PC and the Belkin router must know what the key is (i.e you will have to set up the (same) key at both your PC and the Belkin).

To get the Belkin going, it's possible you have been instructed to turn off the Firewall (in the Belkin) .. if that's the case you are not as well protected as you should be.

I suggest ask a friend to help you secure your system.
