When you see a pink Red Sox hat don't you automatically know that the person wearing it doesn't know the difference between Butch Hobson and Sam Horn?

For the record, I recently heard a woman in her 20's express exactly the same attitude I have towards those pink hats.

I knew I would be jerking a few chains, though. But I am willing to believe all the women who answered below to say that they wear pink hats and are true, knowledgeable fans, as well. But really, you ought to know better. Pink hats do not belong in Fenway Park. This is not an anti-woman assertion, it is a pro-Red Sox tradition assertion. If you want to wear a Red Sox hat, there are two acceptable choices for colors: Blue or Red. That is all. If you don't understand why, you may not be as good of a Red Sox fan as you think you are.

Yes, I have a problem with Green caps, too. Sorry to not be clearer. The only green ball cap a NE sports fan should be wearing is a Celtics hat.

Pink in October and you complain? Do you know what month October is? Heck, I'd wear a pink tutu if it would help. C'mon. What a person wears or how they look says NOTHING about what they know about baseball.

Do you have a problem with the green Sox hats that so many people wear too?
I've been a Sox fan for life, and if I was going to wear a hat it would probably be pink, because I'm a girl, I like pink and it's a better color on me than red or blue. Doesn't make me less of a fan.

I'm with you on this one. With the players that made the squad this season, I'm surprised Lugo didn't sneak his name on there. I know we have a good team, but a few people on the team were not deserving of their starting spots (or to even be named to the team). I like Terry's call not to put Dice-K on the roster, it will give him some more rest and I like that move. I like the idea that Pedroia made the team and he is well deserving of the starting spot. Guy is on fire lately (going into last night's game hitting .500 in his last 14 games-- up over .300 now after a slower start) his defensive plays in the field are overlooked sometimes. As highly talked about as Youk is, I don't think he deserved the nod to start. Justin Morneau has been great this season and there is no reason in my mind that he shouldn't be starting at first. Manny probably won't play so hopefully someone who is having a good year (like--22 HR / 20SB--Grady Sizemore) will get to start. How is Ortiz voted in at DH? Guy hasn't played in a month and was not even playing that well up until the time of his injury! When I heard he was voted as the DH for the American League I didn't know what to do. Finally, what the hell is Jason Varitek doing this season? Lowest BA of AL catchers and he gets on the All-Star roster? Hitting .217 and he's an All-Star? This guy is digging a hole and I can't see why people around this place still love him. They defend that he is worthy of this. Makes me sick. How in the world can a guy hit below "the Lugo Line" and make the All-Star team. We give Lugo crap for hitting that low, but when its the captain we are suddenly accepting it? I give up.

Not necessarily.

However, any Sox fan (of whatever vintage) that doesn't know of Hobson's disastrous term as team manager is enjoying an unknown blessing. While being a True Red Sox Fan™ should carry a measure of pain, anguish, and suffering -- and this is a flinty New England cultural thing as much as it is specifically a Red Sox thing -- it doesn't have to run so deep as to recall that sorry period.

The horror, the horror....

I have a pink hat with the Red Sox logo, and I wear it proudly.

I have also been a Red Sox fan for a loooooong time................I don't think wearing a pink hat makes me a bandwagon fan.I also know the difference between Sam Horn and Hobson.

Thank you very much;-)

Edit:I want to thank lkycharmz for knowing what he's talking about.

The only time I see pink Red Sox hats is when Manny has his period.

Please tell me you are not serious. I have been a sox fan for 25 + years (not giving my exact age) & wear a pink hat sometimes. Just because us girls want to look cute/not boyish doesn't mean that we don't know anything about baseball. I know more about the Sox than most people I know.

Oh, so since girls are the ones who wear pink hats, then ALL girls are bandwagon fans and know nothing from baseball?? They know baseball and then know fashion! Dude, you just proved, you know nothing about nothing. I bet half the men in suits at that game (sales pitch tickets) could not even name the starting lineup for the Sox. Thanks for the two points though. Don't get me wrong, it burns my butt seeing half of those fans in those stands (although last nights weather lessened the pain) and knowing they could give 2 shi*ts about the Sox and did not follow them all year like us true fans did....So please, just don't go and "assume" you know what your talking about...because you are wrong. Women fans of the Red Sox are very knowledgeable about their team.

Oh my god I hate those pink hats so much.
When I see a pink hat, I see a fairweather bandwagon fan... and yes, exactly... one who doesn't even know who Pesky's pole is named after!!!!

Are you serious??
I've been watching my whole life.

This is the most ignorant question. Girls like pink duh! You're not going to see a dude wearing a pink hat. Come on!

...People are so dumb it makes me laugh. Thanks I needed that.
