About half the American people take the time to vote, making it easy for bloc voters like the Religious Right to skew the results. When Gore ran, votes that would have gone to him were split with Nader, solidifying the notion that a third party spoiler could have undue influence in a national election, if Gore had gotten those votes, there wouldn't have been the disastrous Bush mess.
Of course we could have had a Gore mess, but it wouldn't have been of the epic proportions Bush will leave us with.
I hope we have learned not to believe everything a candidate tells us, some of which is by nature not necessarily up to that candidate alone when he takes office. I hope we are more questioning now of the slurs and lies spread around without real backup. Lets just say 'swiftboating' has become a verb as well as a noun.
I hope we will also not settle for mediocrity, even if its a good old boy, we need a grown up in office to pull us out, and its not going to be friendly.

Given the fix in the 2000 election, in which tens of thousands of eligible black voters were deliberately removed from the list in advance of the poll, an argument can be made that Al Gore did actually win once. The second time around Bush won through creating and exploiting fear and hysteria.
This does not excuse the American people from failing to protect their republic from a dangerous ideologue but, to paraphrase Phineas Taylor Barnum, "Nobody ever lost office by underestimating the gullibility of the American voter."

Al Gore was elected by popular vote. Unfortunately, the fraud electoral college vote took precedent. In the last 30 years we've had Carter (Dem, 1 term), Reagan (Rep, 2 terms), Bush Sr. (Rep-1 term), Clinton (Dem, 2 terms), Bush Jr (Rep, 2 terms). It goes back and forth, as always.

Because Al Gore makes things up for his own agenda, Global Warming, inventing the Internet, to name 2
The biggest mistake Al Gore made was conceding and then turning around and saying he doesn't.
Al Gore is the modern day Hitler, and is going to be the death of mankind with his Global Warming BS.

The sad part in all of this, look at what the American public got to choose from. elections 2000 and 2004 were a rerun of "Dumb and Dumber." To think that is the best that either party had to offer. It would appear that 2008 will be no different. Teddy Roosevelt where are you when we need you?
