In the nature versus nurture debate, nature refers to genetically inherited traits encoded in DNA, while nurture refers to outside or environmental factors.
Twins share DNA, so the only aspect that can make them different from each other is their environment.
This can start as early as the time the cells divide into two separate entities creating the twins. It has been shown that the earlier it divides, the less alike the twins will be.
In growth and development, different genes can be turned 'on' or 'off.' Although a person may have a specific gene, it might not be active. The differences in twins depend on the activation of genes.
Nutrition also plays a part in it. If one twin eats healthy and the other doesn't, the healthy twins body will be better able to carry out its required processes and the unhealthy twins body will struggle.
There are also a great many psychological aspects, but all of those have not been explored yet. Suffice it to say, that environment also plays a role in shaping personality.

For identical twins, the DNA will be the same. Yes, gene expression can differ, but this is much more difficult to gauge analytically. It can be done, it's just more difficult. And gene expression depends on so many conditions that a single person's gene expression patterns will change under different conditions. So in terms of, say, forensics, a test to determine the differences in DNA between identical twins will turn up nothing.
BUT, even with identical genetic codes, the fingerprints of twins will not be the same.

There are many difference between twins. I am assuming you mean identical human twins. Your question is a bit vague.

identical twins actually have the same DNA, i'm a mirror twin,(next step from siamese) but we have different characteristics(i think anyway) and different personalities..fraternal twins will have different characteristics and may be of different sex, definately separate DNA..if you're wondering how to differentiate from twins u know personally, then u probably need to get to know them as individuals before spontaneously telling the difference
