I just finished laying a new commercial-grade vinyl tile floor in a room in my basement. It needs to be sealed and polished. What are the best products and methods to accomplish this?

It shouldn't need to be stripped as it's a brand new floor and has never been coated with anything before. (Or should I strip it anyway?)

Sealing new vinyl tile is important in order to protect from dirt embedding in the soft surface. Use a water-based self-leveling sealer/finish in one. Many commercial-grade sealers are virtually maintenance-free for many years and will offer you a nice shine plus skid-free surface. You'll find the best products in your area by asking at a janitorial supply store; they know the business better than any large home improvement chain. Avoid products with high VOCs and heavy metals.

After cleaning and rinsing your floor, apply the finish with a lambswool applicator on a long handle. Work gently in a 3x3 area from side to side. Avoid agitating the finish, as bubbles will dry into the final coat, then traffic will break off the tops of the bubbles allowing dirt to become embedded in the finish. Apply at least two coats. Always read the manufacturer's directions on the label before beginning. And good luck! Sounds like you'll have a beautiful floor for years to come!

No need to strip it. Just clean it. Certainly there are commercial grade strippers/sealers/ and finishes for DULL commercial vinyl. I'm curious as to why it's even sold. The very notion of a Vinyl floor is some formulation of sealant included. That said the situation exists. Obviously you don't strictly need commercially graded products; that have to be buffed; as might be the case in a school etc., but the Mfg. might offer recommendations.
There are likely dozens of finish coatings available specif to vinyl flooring.
