when we didn't have the technology of today! life was simple and slower, not the rat race we have today.
my daughter is an A grade student, but we live in the North of England, her tutor has advised her not to bother with going on to a Law degree, for there is little chance of a job at the end. This is due to the multitude of students all cramming for the same positions within a Barristers chambers, which there are few, so only the rich get by offers of gifts and meals out.
when I was a kid, and Im only 35, you could get a job anywhere, if you didn't like it you could just change. Now the stress put on the young is astronomical, it is no wonder that so many of them burn out while still young.

first off, go to the school , pin the teacher to the wall, and scream in their face
DO NOT DISCOURAGE MY CHILD FROM TRYING TO ACHIEVE YOU (insert expletive of own choice)
punctuate each word with alternating forward and backhand slaps, this should gain their attention, will ensure that they both understand and accede to your wishes
as I'm 50, understandably my kids are now out of the education system but with application and ability will come success
my oldest is working in Portugal as a senior charge nurse
the boy works in America doing something with computer systems( he has tried to explain but he may as well be talking Swahili for all i understand)
my baby girl is working for a firm of solicitors in Manchester
all from a state education
give them your love and support

I'm 36, so I can remember life in pretty much the same time frame as you--and Hell Yeah! I'd take my life back then anyday! Not that I don't love my daughter--it's just that things have become so totally screwed around backwards these days. I never thought that I'd sound exactly like my parents!

As far as your daughter is concerned, she's gonna have to be a real fighter, no matter which career choice she makes these days-I can sympathize--it's just as cutthroat here in the states! Just keep giving her all the help and support that you've been giving her--she'll find her own way, but it's probably gonna have a few twists and turns. My daughter is only 12 and I'm just now seeing how things are for her age group these days. I don't envy her!

One of the responses for this concern that you will discover in this guide is that it makes it appear like once you do get exactly what you want, that' it. Okay, you have what you want now but what are you supposed to do in order to sustain the change or advantages you've gotten? Consider it like a diet plan. If you desire to reduce weight and you work hard to lose it, okay, you've managed to lose the weight? Does this suggest you can stop doing the things that triggered you to lose the weight in the very first place? I'm a babyboomer (s.o. born between 1960 and 1964). I'm grateful I could have a happy childhood. Here in Italy the life was simple and slower, too; people were kind and smiled often. Maybe we hade less wishes then today, but it was not so difficult so see a wish come true.

Today's life is often frustrating. But technology is not fault. The problem is, our society is now composed of rich people, who become richer day by day, and of people, who become poorer day by day.

Many people think here like your daughter's tutor. But I think, to study is always a good thing. Only, you cannot expect that only your study opens to you the doors. You must also be "aggressive", determined.

Very much so, Those days were filled with innocence and love without learning any other gimmick or book on love and what to believe, it was better because the system itself has raped man kind of its ability to think and to rationalize what is the best course for the future, we appear to be locked in on a course to destroy what is in our way and damn the people who do not jump on the band wagon. I would like to quote Ralph Waldo Emerson, What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us. Think about it people and put it to heart!

I'm a citizen of the US and it was my impression that the UK had done away with this caste system. But it looks like I was wrong. However when you have a publicly support and encouraged peerage you will never really remove the caste system.

A law degree is a good degree to have whatever you are going to do. I think it is stupid for a tutor to give that advice. I have one my daughter has one and neither of us are practising lawyers but the knowledge has we gained and the way it teaches you to think has been invaluable in both our careers

I long for the irresponsibility of youth, the knowledge that you didn't need to think of a whole lot besides your self and own interests. The enjoyment of youth.
I mean there is nothing stopping me from climbing trees, having a secret club with our own code names or sneaking lollies for the lolly jar. I simply don't want to do it anymore.
I have lost the ability to imagine and to a certain extent dream.

If your daughter truly wishes to become a lawyer, she could concentrate in a specialized, modern field such as intellectual property.
