Every woman is different. some women suffer PMS and others do not...doesn't make it a myth just because all women don't suffer. Women who don't encounter these symptoms should be thankful. The fact is that the women who do suffer from it have family and friends who also suffer the effects of PMS. Ask any man who lives with one of these women. Do we apologize?? Depends on the woman and her personality. I always did. I felt horrible about the ways I acted. I didn't want to be so out of control emotionally, but I just could not help it.

PMS is a fact for some women, but not all. The symptoms can include pain, depression, oversensitivity, fatigue. The body goes through alot at this time, and anemia is common. I don't generally do anything I need to apologize for, mostly all I want during this time is rest. The existence of pms causes other problems as well. In my own experiences, I have known several guys who would act like a jerk, then chalk it up to pms if she gets upset about it, regardless of what time of the month it is, and use that as an excuse not to address her concerns or upset over his actions.... for some guys (Note that I am not saying you, or all men, just *some* guys I have known along the way), PMS is a convenient excuse for thier own behavior, and the consequences arising from it, and also a convenient excuse for the "glass ceiling" which is why women who apparently don't have it often don't wish to acknowledge it exists, because they have the experience of not having thier concerns listened to, and instead having them brushed off as "just pms, it will blow over" kind of thinking.......some women will use pms as an excuse for abusive behavior, and that isn't right either, if she has a problem with anger management, she should get help, or if she has pms to a point where it can't be managed with otc treatments, then she should seek medical treatment. It differs from woman to woman, most who have it don't have it to such a drastic extent. The point I am trying to make is that it cuts both ways here, she may have pms, or she may have legitimate concerns that need to be addressed... if a woman gets angry about something, that doesn't mean that she has pms any more than it does when a man gets angry about something. While the pain and fatigue can lead to a shorter fuse, men have a shorter fuse when they don't feel well as well. She should try to show consideration when he has a cold, or hasn't been sleeping well or whatever, and he should try to show some consideration that she may be run down or in pain with something he will never have, and never truly be able to understand what it's like, it goes both ways..........

Some women get PMS and some don't. It's probably an interaction of hormones, genetics, and environment. Symptoms vary.
What do you mean by "abused?" Some women have a severe enough form of PMS that they need to take medication to prevent them from assaulting people. Some boyfriends use the term "abuse" to mean having a sharper way of speaking than usual. If I snarl at people because I'm having a bad day for whatever reason, I usually apologize.

PMS, like most other physical symptoms varies from person to person. I didn't believe in it, until I noticed a monthly time when I was a little emotional (I am not normally that way) - not nasty, just things like tearing up at AT&T commercials, and a strong craving for chocolate.
Fortunately I have not taken it out on anyone else, so no need to apologise.

It's real. It goes even further into PMDD which I suffered most of my life. Apologize? lol Constantly? You are not in control of yourself when your hormones are screwed up. We're talking 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after. You do the math. They still don't know how to treat the symptoms. The physical symptoms are nothing compared to the mental and emotional anguish it puts you through. It's hell.

It's hormones levels, of course it's fact. I never abuse anyone, mostly just get oversensitve and maybe a bit tearful
If you know someone with a severe problem, where they do become abusive or threatening at the same time every month, refer them to a gp so they can get the help they need- they may be put on the pill or something to control hormone levels!

PMS is not a myth. but then again, it doesn't affect all women equally either.
symptoms...being very emotional, bloating, cravings...etc.
And yes, I do apologize sometimes when I know it was just being overly emotional and there wasn't a real issue. But I wouldn't call it abuse.

It's fact. I personally was taught that regardless of hormone levels I wasn't allowed to be angry at anyone or lose my patience. I've learned when to just let things go but it's hard because my body wants to overreact so badly. There are intense mood swings for me and sometimes I want to cry. If I have hurt someone I still apologize.
You obviously don't understand much about how hormones effect people or you wouldn't ask this question.
