No, there are many more benefits to playing sports.
You learn to think ahead, and create a strategy for success.
You learn to set goals, and learn to do what's necessary to achieve your goals.
You learn discipline. Training for sport requires discipline.
You learn how to accept defeat, and how to be a gracious winner.
You learn how to be part of a team, and what it's like to have others depend on you, and you also learn what's it's like to depend on others.
You learn how to work with people that you may or may not get along with.
You learn race relations. For many people, sports are the first opportunity to be on an equal footing with those of other races.
There are many other factors, such as boosting economies and morales of the communities surrounding teams, but my answer has gone on for too long already.

Absolutely not! I play sports to reduce stress. I also believe that men (perhaps women as well) have an instinctual need to be competitive. My wife prefers I satisfy this need on a playing field than at home.
