Illegal immigrants from Mexico come to the U.S. because they KNOW there are more job opportunities for them than there are in Mexico. It's called Survival of the Fittest. They come here to survive. You can't blame them for trying to improve their lives through hard work- and make no mistake- they work hard. In Los Angeles, you will NEVER see a Mexican begging off a freeway ramp - only whites and blacks do that. That is a fact.
However, they are here illegally and that is against the law. But shouldn't the U.S. COMPANIES (are you listening, George Bush) who hire illegals be the scapegoats? Shouldn't U.S. citizens work those jobs so that the Mexicans don't have to? (Right, so get your cozy **** away from the computer and pick some crops 12 hours a day in a field. Hey- you'll be fuel efficient because you can sleep in the same field!!)

Only, good point, but the U.S. government seems pretty lax about prosecuting these companies. Wonder why that is? It can't be that difficult to find them...

hoo- good point. The difference is that I don't complain about the illegals, except that I think they are treated unfairly.

I don't blame the immigrant, I blame the companies that hire them at low wages.
If we go after these companies, and fine them or close them down, then we can resolve this problem.
I am all for immigration if it is done legally.

US citizens will NOT work for jobs that are now occupied by immigrants. They are menial low-pay, service-oriented positions that have few, if any, tangible benefits. The argument that illegals are "stealing" jobs away from Americans is a total farce. Much of the hiring of illegals is done not by large corporations but rather by small businesses and independent contractors.
You're right. Rarely, if ever, would you see a native-born American stand on the corner as a street vendor or walk into a day-labor site and work by the day. The only segment of American society directly affected by the growing pool of unskilled immigrant labor is under-educated, high-school dropouts. These are the last people whom I would feel any pity for as they have been given every opportunity in life as an American citizen and they have failed to utilize those opportunities to better themselves. Immigrants come here with basically just the clothes on their backs, yet find a way to improve their overall quality of life once they settle here.
As for the issue of crime, most of what the anti-immigrant activists rely upon to substantiate their claims is based on anectdotal evidence. In other words, they grab overly hyped, high-profile cases involving illegals and project that negative image upon immigrants as a whole. There is no conclusive, concrete evidence correlating the rise of immigration with violent crime. In fact, violent crime as a whole has dropped over the past 20 years, even factoring in the gradual increase in population across the nation.

They are both guilty of breaking the laws. It is not just the fields that they work in. I work in a factory and do a 12 hour shift. There were illegals working there for the same money as I get. The temp agency that they worked thru was raided and 68 deported. The jobs were filled and no loss of production. There are citizens out there do the jobs. Also they dont all work hard. Some do and some dont just like anyone else. You dont see illegals begging because they dont want to call attention to themselves. No matter how you try to justify them: illegal is still illegal.

Who's blaming them? Salute them, congratulate them, give them a hearty pat on the back. And then send them home.
Americans will work in the fields when the pay is raised.
If farmers could find some way to cut the wages they pay in half, it wouldn't be long before the companies they sell to would find a way to cut what they pay for the crop. And the farmers would once again whine that they can't find cheap enough labor.
This is why the chocolate in the candy bars you buy at the gas station was likely produced with slave labor: Companies like Nestles are paying African farmers the same price for cocoa as they were thirty years ago. The farmers have simply been driven by necessity to reduce their wages to.... nothing.
And for what? Has the cost of a hershey bar stayed the same for thirty years? No it has not. Guess where the money's going.
There's definitely nothing sacred about rock bottom wages for field workers.

No politicians do anything about because they are afraid of alienating minority voters. If you are a Conservative and say this( I mean true Conservative like Ron Paul or Patrick J buchanan) You are immediately Shouted Down by being labeled Racist without any concrete support. Also didnt you know the Jobs that illegals work, us Americans wouldnt do, right remember that one? We dont need jobs? Okay guy yeah, sure. I personally would love to get paid $125 a day and get an hour paid for siesta while working my butt off in the sun. But i cant.

yes, you do see mexicans begging. they usually get arrested. I also see them stealing, dealing drugs, raping, murdering, racketeering, and doing all things criminal. the reason people hire the cheapest labor is because it keeps costs down. I can blame them for illegally entering my country (a criminal act) and enjoying the liberties and protection of my country and not paying a dime in income taxes.
I'm all for hard working mexicans legally working here, living here, and being a citizen here. There are plenty of mexicans that immigrate legally everyyear. not every mexican you see is here illegally. the ones that aren't being criminals is a good indicator of legally entered the country.

Yeah are these the same immigrants that stole food and supplies from the evacuees of the Cali fires? They should all be either A deported or B drafted.

Mexicans will come to the US whether there are jobs for them here or not. It's not like they are all experts in American commerce before they come. Many of them are uneducated!
They come for two reasons (this is called "push pull" by economists):
1) There is poverty, crime and corruption there
2) There is a promise of opportunity here
The poverty gets them moving. If it wasn't so bad in Mexico, they would never leave their home. Once they're moving, they go where they think the promise exists. First they go to Mexico City or some other nearby city. Mexico City has become a huge, bloated city with a large homeless and migratory problem. From there they come here.

Send the IRS in with the INS and find out how many of the companies who hire illegals are paying no employment taxes on them. Would solve the problem quickly.

What do you mean when you ask,
"Why doesn't anyone listen when I say this"?
I hear you loud and clear.
Is it that you are not getting the response you want or what?
You seem to be very hypercritical about others not choosing to work in a field 12 hours a day.
My only comment is a question.
What do you, yourself, personally choose to do for 12 hours a day?
