I'm a non-smoker who believes that smokers are becoming the pariah of our society. Yes, I like a separate section in a restaurant, and don't make me walk through the smoking section to get to the non-smoking one (or don't put all of the TVs in the smoking section). But, then again, don't tell someone they can't smoke in their car.

I am a NONsmoker against the smoking ban.

Why?

Well, I personally don't think that someone should be able to tell another what they can and can't do in their lives, when it is perfectly legal to do. If a non-smoker doesn't want to be exposed to smoke, then don't expose yourself. I don't go to the bars where smoke is very heavy, and they don't have the greatest filtration systems. If smokers want to kill themselves, more power to them. I can protect myself, and I do. I don't want to infringe upon another's civil rights because of a claim of my civil rights. It just doesn't make any sense.

I am an individual with asthma, and I think that one that doesn't smoke has no more rights than one that does. That is ridiculous.

I am a non-smoker who is against the smoking ban.
My Partner and most of my friends are smokers so when ever we go out anywhere my friends or partner have to go outside to smoke so I have to sit by myself for most of the night or I have to go outside and stand amongst all the smoke in the freezing cold and rain. I think it should be up to the people who own the pubs and bars if they want the smokers or not.

The premises owner should elect to allow or ban smokers as they do in Spain. I am a non smoker but do not agree with a blanket ban as this is having a detrimental affect on business.

I truly have co-owned a small tavern, in upstate long island, considering the fact that 2001. not a chic-place, yet not one the place you're probably to get stabbed the two. earnings-margins have been wide-spread for an establisment of its length. the situation had a extremely good lunch crowd (eaters), from surrounding agencies, and a small crowd of each and on a daily basis regulars (drinkers). often blue-collar workers. actual not a university-bar. on a similar time as we do serve foodstuff, numerous the earnings comes from the sale of alcoholic liquids. i might say extra or less 70% of our buyers smoke. In 2003, after long island banned smoking in bars, a pair of million/4 of our buyers stopped coming in, the two eaters and drinkers, and income dropped ~35%. We have been on the verge of financial ruin. To get well, expenditures have been better, one waitress and a kitchen asst., the two area-time positions, have been laid-off and we re-negotiated with our providers. It has taken 3 very confusing years, yet we are ultimately rewarding as quickly as back. Our corporation quantity continues to be decrease than the pre-ban quantity and we've not replaced the two worker that became into laid-off. Smoking buyers could desire to now go outdoors for a smoke. We added an awning onto the back of the construction, to shield them from rain/snow, and placed a pair benches available. In iciness we've a salamander form heater to maintain them from freezing. regrettably, no count how many butt-cans we placed available people look to think of the total automobile parking zone is an ashtray. a number of those variations weren't unfastened. The humorous area is, between the arguments to assist the smoking ban in bars became into to not disclose the workers to 2d-hand smoke. yet all 3 bartenders, the waitress and the two chefs smoke. i are conscious of it isn't the case with all bars/eating places because of the fact the business enterprise of the long island smoking ban. numerous it relies upon at one in each of those purchasers that frequents a given business enterprise.

Is there a specific smoking ban that you are referring to? I think smoking is a filthy, stupid habit, but I realize that some people like to do it and some of these bans go a little overboard.

try libertarian writings.
libertarians dont believe in any sort of bans and that people will just work it out on their own.

for example, heres a libertarian scenario:
you light up, i object, you refuse to put your cigarette out, we fight.
