Whenever you read something like this, you need to be asking yourself, "how exactly is stress measured?" Is there some kind of stress unit, like a pound? Do Americans have 4 pounds and Europeans only have 3?
Unless you can come up with a reasonable answer, the story is probably bogus. Journalists are fully willing to put out crap, and Americans are fully willing to buy it.

It has very little to do with the national economy. Americans are not adjusting well to being in a global economy. The rest of the working world has adapted nicely. Americans are not prepared to work longer hours and harder to compete. Hence the stress.
Americans need to adapt and fast, or we will be left behind.

I would like to see Michigan be the advertisement for the Democratic party, "Look at what we can do to you!"
Or Perhaps the Republicans can pick up on it, " Look when a government that does everything for you, see what it can do to you!"
Michigans residents gave new meaning to the word "STRESS." Michigan has the highest taxes, the highest rate of unemployment , greatest loss of industry, Service Businesses, Small Business, and the largest exodus of people leaving the state.
Thank you Governor Granholm for just passing more tax burden on the people left here!

It's an on-line survey.
You know who fills those things out?
The very same house-bound agoraphobic, manic depressive, pimple faced teen agers who text message votes for Ron Paul just to be a pain in the a s s.
The real problem in this country is that some of these pant loads are eligible to vote in a real election.

The economy may have some indirect effect on stress, but there is certainly no direct correlation. There are probably better indicators of how the economy is doing.

It's great that 2/3 are not under stress...I expected that number to be lower!

You don't think wealthy people are under stress too?
Regarding your shot at the economy, I am truly sorry that you can't find a job. Have you tried getting an education?

Poor moody. Michigan is a red state. Yes, with most Americans in debt it's little wonder.
