Because the GOP is a racist, sexist, reactionary party.

There is diversity in the Republican field, although not much. Look beyond skin colour or gender to the ideas, and you will see that Ron Paul is as far away from Mitt Romney is as far from Rudy Giuliani as a Republican can be.

Diversity is, in and of itself, not enough to justify election. Talent and character are critical, as is experience. The latter eliminates Barack Obama, despite his racial correctness.

It would be more appropriate to ask why the Republican diversity of ideas is so much smaller than the Democratic spread? Aside from Ron Paul, the GOP seems to be advocating more of the same old partisan garbage that got us into the mess we are in.

Fortunately, we have an experienced and talented woman who will satisfy most of the requirements for a good President. My main reason for welcoming her election will not be her gender, however, as much as it will be the joy of watching Fox News Election coverage. Will Rush Limbaugh be able to actually say the words "President Hilary Clinton" without swallowing his tongue?

The GOP has an African American, a cross dresser and a Mormon running. How is that not diversity?

Your assumption is that race/gender equals diversity. This is a 20th century concept. All throughout history diversity was considered to be a wide array of differing views. Thus, between Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich (two white males), we have a GREAT deal of diversity.

Stating that race or gender is equivalent to diversity shows how shallow you just may be.

I see plenty of diversity.

I see neocons who want to stay in iraq in order to continue stock gains and world domination, I see neocons who want to build a north american union and superhighway. I see them running against a anti war, pro constitution conservative! THATS diversity!

You on the other hand, see a Y chromosome, and melanin. How diverse.

Because the content of your character is more important than the color of your skin.

Besides, for the Democrats it's different covers on the same Communist Manifesto.

Remember the Republicans call themselves the party of the big tent, that is you must be pro life, pro gun, anti gay, pro big business, anti environment, tax cut for the rich. They claim to be tolerant and open but it turns out to be one ring circus of WASP.
