Afghanistan wanted revenge? That's a new one. The Islamic WORLD wanted revenge and was in the middle of a jihad against all "infidels". The goal of Islam is to convert everyone to their faith, regardless of methods used. They are allowed to lie, cheat and even murder in order to accomplish their goals.

It wasn't the country of Afghanistan that wanted revenge, it was a Saudi Arabian named Osama bin Laden that wanted revenge. For one thing he wants revenge on anyone that doesn't believe in Islam, but the main reason is because Americans invaded the Middle East in the first Persian Gulf War.
It doesn't matter to him that we were asked to go there and got support from Saudi Arabia.
The reason he attacked the twin towers was because they represented American economical power in the world, he wanted to show that terrorist's could reach into the heart of America and spread fear.

Afganistan was the site for training camps wherein discruntled angry Muslins discussed ways to vent their frustration their anger most of which was focused on America and a belief that America fostered hatred for Islam. Actually a majority of those who struck on 9/11 were from America's staunchest ally, Saudia Arabia. They were the 'bored middle class' student typoes who didn't like how their home country was cozying up to America. The strike against the twin towers was meant to be and was and is symbolic.

Peace.............. /// --------- O . ! . O -------- \\\

PS The 9/11 attackers would have died happy knowing that their efforts meant an attack against Iraq and the subsequent hanging of their enemy Sadam Hussein. History can be insane...

In the 1980s when the Afghans were fighting the Russian occupiers they were supported by the USA.
Osama bin Laden set up a training camp for guerilla fighters in Peshawar.
The name of this camp was Al Qaeda and the CIA and Saudi and Pakistan Intelligence services supplied him with weapons ,money and training.
When the Afghans had beaten the Russians all of these fighters were suddenly abandoned by the USA and Afghanistan descended into a bloody civil war.
Bin Laden realised he had been used only to further the aims of the USA.

It was a family thing, Bin Laden didn't like his family cozying up to America and thought the USA should get out of Saudi Arabia, (That's funny many Americans think they shouldn't have troops abroad either). That's why they did the twin towers. They want the West out of "Muslim" countries so they can set up a fundamentalist superstate with them at the top (of course)The Bush family is chummy, chummy with the Bin Ladens and the Saudi Oil men.

Afghanistan is just a poor country that has had Bin Laden's followers setting up an "Islamic" state whether they want it or not. Iraq has nothing to with either, Saddam H was "our" man until he went off to do his own thing in Kuwait. the first Bush was sensible enough not to follow the war up into Baghdad, his dumb son however wanted to show his Pappy he could do better - the rest is history.

Afghanistan didn’t want revenge. Islamic fundamentalist terrorists were, and are, goaled to destroy the west to alter the world to be an Islamic State and they just happened to be centered in Afghanistan. The World Trade Center was a symbol (to them) of Western power and they wanted to destroy it. Remember that this was their second attempt to destroy the towers.

These terrorists do not relate to a world where individual freedoms are the goal but rather they want a religious controlled government where all people either follow the rules of the leaders of the religion (in this case Islam) or those people can be killed.

No revenge, simply the desire to control the world and all people in it.
