Nothing religious about that buddy.

In the olden days India was a large country which included all of south Asia. and most of the civilization was along the river Indus , or the river Sindhu. so Hindustan was a word given by the invading Moguls and Afghans as a combined and modified version of people and its religion living along the river Indus or river Sindhu. so came a created word Hindustan. The word Hindustan is not a word and acronym created by people in India, It was a name given by Invaders. India was called "BHARATWARSHA" prior to that, and its official name is also "BHARAT".
