I think Madeleine got so much attention because the parents wanted alot of media coverage. Some people might like to be left alone while they are grieving. Within 2 days they already had all the people lined up they needed like lawyers, PR reps etc etc. The website and fund were set up immediately and well the McCanns seem to know alot of important people. Most common folk would not beable to keep their heads together to think of all those things and not have the connections they have. Its a shame however that it takes who you know and how much money you have for your child to get so much attention. We have to remember also that most parents of missing children hang up posters on their own accord opposed to charging people for the missing child posters. Shawn Hornbecks family started a foundation but it was done more quietly and not made such a big deal about. While they were known by many it was because of their help in searches for other missing children. They would go out and search on foot for other missing children as well as their own son. They never gave up but didn't seem to draw alot of attention to themselves either. In the US parents are ruled out as suspects immediately and I do believe they were very forthcoming from the beginning.

This isn't a new story and I have been aware of it for a while. The little girl was asleep in the room with her siblings. The rip in the screen might be old, not necessarily a sinister thing, either. She might have climbed out and wandered off.
It is very scary. I had hoped that by now they would have found her.
But is it really necessary to compare the two families? How do we weigh their distress and suffering? Both families are grieving, and both trying to deal with the situation as they can.

As much as i'd love to see Rahma being given the same amount of media coverage as Madeleine, I'm begining to believe there are 2 schools of thought here; to ensure world wide media covers & not to ensure so much coverage.

It all depends on the investigative advice being given by the police authorities to parents of missing children.

Some people believe that with media coverage there is more chance of the child being found soon.

While some believe that too much coverage will only put the abductor into a panic enough to harm & dispose of the child.

Its got nothing to do with the parents wanting attention. All they really want is their baby back home.

Because Maddie's parents got money and are looking to make it big with the media. If I was that family then I'd call every newspaper and media to get the media coverage that is needed in finding this poor child. Its sad but thats how it is here in the US....dont have a chance unless you got the money to front.

Because the British media were interested in the case of a missing British child and the parents went into overdrive with their desire for media coverage. .

The determination of Madeleine's parents for people to be aware of her plight, their ability to hold it together so they could ensure the media focuses on her by not falling apart and wailing and taking the spotlight off her by attention seeking, week willed self pity, thus ensuring that people would carry on looking for her because she was in the forefront of peoples minds. Basically for doing the things they did that ensured Madeleine's case was not swept under the carpet, the very things the hate campaigners have twisted into something sinister.

'The family raised the alarm around 0900 AEDT after searching for her for an hour, say police. '

At least she has parents looking for her, not trying to line their pockets.
