I agree with so many of the other answers but this time will repeat it!
Most of the time if I see an answer that gives my opinion I will not answer, instead I will give it a thumbs up and if I like the question give it a star.

No I in no way try this.. If an answerer would not trust my opinion then i don't thumb up or down, yet i does not purely thumb somebody down by way of fact they had a distinctive opinion than me.. this is actual narrow minded, petty and ignorant. i'm going to purely thumb somebody down in the event that they're impolite or insulting or in the event that they needless to say have not replied my question (to illustrate in the event that they only submit unsolicited mail or write something like ''jrf098349um4ct'' just to get 2 factors). I consistently thumb people up who replied my question precise (i.e. defined their opinion, gave their advice or despite). i'm getting rather aggravated while ppl thumb down my solutions. I desire they could disable that utility and only have an option to thumb people up.. then in case you do not purely like the respond, do not thumb it up.

You can tell who gives stars now. I sometimes give stars for an interesting questions and don't answer them because other people already gave the same answer I would have. I don't usually give thumbs down. Just because I don't agree with an answer doesnt mean it deserves a thumbs down.

If I don't have an answer I feel will be helpful, I don't answer.
But that shouldn't stop me from commenting on others with stars and thumbs.

I use the Thumbs up/down only when i answer the Q, not if i don't.

coz someone already gave the answer i had in mind so instead of giving the same answer again....i give it a thumbs up.

sometimes I thumbs up an answer that conveys my thoughts and I feel that me adding another answer that would be almost identical to one already there is pointless

Yeah I do, sometimes I want to agree or disagree with what people are saying, but don't have anything to add. That's what it's for isn't it?
