I actually started on my 'patch pile' last night - but I really need to learn to sew properly!

Patch, I'm trying to be green these days. I'm saving for a sewing machine so I can make new clothes out of old ones. ☺

I only patch things that I absolutely love (like a very old pair of jeans). I do mend things - holes, buttons missing, fraying etc and will sometimes dye something to refresh the colour. I do know people that will throw away a shirt with a button missing!!

I was brought up in an age when you only threw things away when the were worn out after having been used as rags. Therefore, I repair, restore and extend the life of my clothes so that they always look like new - it is:
1. a waste of hard earned money to do otherwise
2. a waste of the planet's resources to do otherwise
I always keep my best clothes for best wear. If I am just going to be knocking around, then I just wear something suitable for that.

If they're in need of patching then I'll either throw them away or keep them for making costumes for my daughters for the many (far too many) historical days they have at school.

Do look in charity shops also for bargains and found out even the rich and famous also visit charity shops.

I ONLY sew if I'm getting paid to do so (name labels). I've just chucked a load of clothes out.

Throw them away, recycyle or give to charity shop. Depends what they're like

The homeless clients I deal with usually dress better than I do. The local churches give them nice clothing, while I shop at WalMart when I have the money.

patch my clothes, people should not waste things they have spent money on and once liked, or else, why would you buy an old piece of clothing in the 1st place? Because you hate it? no, because you love it? yes

both. It depends on what it is.
Because I work on my own rental building I need "work clothes."
Jeans get patched, and I use the patched ones for crawling under houses, fixing sewer lines, etc.
