i felt in last series with Aus that all the old Indian players made let australia convert 1 run in 2 and all their old players ran poorly making 1 run intead of available 2.
what it implies is that there was a differential of 50 runs target in every game due to fielding.
and India had their moments in all matches with Aus 90 for 4 or 100 for 5 and then spilled important catches at crucial junctures.
Symonds dropped at duck and then went on to make 100.
this scoreline 4-2 is misprojecting and i feel the big three and the old players of India are doing the damage and i feel India is a better team than us with their youngsters.
its time for Sachin, Sourav, Dravid and Zaheer to call quits as all of them are hopeless in field and give unnecessary 50 runs advantage to all teams (25 while fielding and 25 while batting)
what do you think. we were lucky to have these guys running between wickets and fielding and could just sneak in the series.

we were also lucky to not have Sehwag in the ODIs as he has always bruised as time and again in the past. we were so lucky to win this series but india showed again in 20 20 our original place , where we stand and they did it with their youngsters in style.

I understand the old players are not agile. Lets face the fact. Its just not the difference between youngsters and seniors. Munaf Patel who is supposed to be an active youngster has a body language of a dead duck and his fielding not to be mentioned. I bet that seniors like Jayasuriya and Hayden can beat Munaf Patel easily in a running race just by jogging.

Sachin Tendulkar, on the other hand, is still quite impressive in his fielding and running between the wickets is as good as where he started 16 years ago. So, it all boils down to individual skill and fitness, rather than seniors or youngsters.

In terms of individual fielding skill, its just few players like Yuvraj, Karthik, R Sharma, R Uthappa who make the fielding look great. All the others are average fielders.

But the reason why the big 3 should be in the team is more because of their batting skill rather than their fielding. I agree that if they had good fielding skills, it would have been an advantage. But some one needs to hold the fort together in a 50 over match or a test match. Youngsters who excelled in T20 are yet to prove they can play long innings as well.

So, the big 3 need to be there to anchor the innings and guide the ship to safety. Not to forget that their experience will be a good learning for the youngsters too. So, for me, the big 3 are still there. Just that they need to improve their agility which seems unlikely.

u r right big 3 r poor in fielding & running between the wkts. but I think the
youngsters are good only for T20 as they are not capable of playing 50 overs
let these youngster blend with the old. Then they should be asked to leave.

Rahul Dravid has been dropped from ODI Team against Pakistan because of his failure in the series against Australia. Similarly others too will be dropped if they fail to perform well.

They cannot be eliminated all at the same time.It is enough they themselves see the reality and be selective.
We need someone like Md Yousuf, for which we can have either Sachin or Dravid, but not both in respect of ODIs.But in tests they can continue.

no I think they should be handled in a correct way by sending them in correct batting order...., that is where they scored maximum runs.. like dravid should be sent at no 3 position or maximum 5th position to take advantage of his experience and patience

YES! They should be, but if Yuvraj and Sachin can make their perfomance a little better, they should still play.

Most of your comments are true, but I think at least one should be kept in team (by rotation or whatever), for advise at least.
