"McCann family reverse story over break-in 'evidence' -- Irish Independent

THE spokesman for the family of Madeleine McCann has reversed a statement made in the early days of the search for the missing child.

Speaking to RTE's 'Prime Time', Clarence Mitchell said she could "easily" have been kidnapped by an abductor who did not leave the trail of a break-in.

However, in the early part of the hunt, friends and family members told journalists that the shutter on the apartment where the McCanns were staying had been broken."

Is this all spin in full steam ahead.

We all know those shutters were JEMMIED - it's become part of everybody's vocabulary.

Now the shutters weren't jemmied - what is going on?

I think it's a huge backtrack - Trish bleated on about it and also Jill Renwick. It became common knowledge until Mark Warner and the PJ said no broken shutters. Confirmed on the Despatches programme.

Morning everyone - Stormy change your avatar, my little one was horrified last night cos she thought you were a brain lololol!

Look for a new & improved version of the events of that night to be announced soon by the family spokesman.
(my opinion)

If the doors were unlocked, why would anyone need to force the shutters, which are temperamental and noisy according to staff & there were no accounts of noise from the McCann apartment that night.
This appears to be a "revision" to make the events of that night fit with their current version of the story.

I would like to believe that Madeleine is alive & well and being cared for somewhere; however, the contradictory and confusing stories of the family make me suspicious.
The only excuse I can come up with is: the McCanns are subject to blackmail and are being forced to give confusing stories until they have gathered the money to pay a ransom.
That seems a highly unlikely scenario, though.

The reason why this is getting so much attention is because the parents are wealthy Dr.'s. That they drugged their children, fully knowing the possible side effects, is cause enough for them to have the other children removed from their care and to be put in jail! The fact that they cannot keep their story straight is of no consequence- we have all seen it happen here in the U.S. as well, people that have $$ get away with EVERYTHING!

How could there have been a break in if the McCanns didnt even lock the door to the room? The place was a free for all!

How many times is their story going to change?
They have insisted all along that the shutters were tampered with, despite the police finding no evidence of that.

Its a pity that no one, while interviewing the McCanns, is brave enough to ask about the inconsistencies in their stories. Then again, no doubt we'd have Gerry storming off set again if someone dared ask a question he didn't approve of.

Well they cannot deny now that one door was left open, the "jemmy" word I think came from Trish - Gerrys sister.
Back tracking of course, but it makes no difference, if children are alone, they are vulnerable.

Morning btw.

BULLS*** alert!
just seen the performance (albeit almost silent due to the office) and the fact that their story keeps changing combined with the little slips is just infuriating.
as sorry as I feel for Madeleine I do just keep asking what is so special about this case that has captured the media spotlight?
