I agree with you entirely, I can't get my head round it either, but if I say so, i get a tirant of abuse and insults from all the Pro's.

Warners offered a listening service and the McCanns and their friends seem to have decided to set up their own rota to go and check on their kids.
It's clear that people regularly used the baby listening service or Warners wouldn't be offering it. Would Madeleine have been any safer if, instead of her parents and their friends checking her in bed, a maid had listened at the door every half hour?

I don't condone it - what they did was very wrong.
Warners don't condone it either - they have award winning childcare facilities. They have a full list of facilities to ensure your children are safe and looked after for almost all of your holiday.
The McCanns chose to leave their children alone, Mark Warners would NOT advise this - look at the outcome....

What is the point in going on about the children being left alone, we all know that and we all know they shouldnt have, the most inportant thing now is to find madeleine, going on at the parents does not help anyone.

They put their children to sleep, in their own beds. They weren't far away, they thought their children were safe. They checked often. I don't think for one moment they assumed anyone would steal their child. The statistics certainly were in their favour. They were wrong.
Condoning it or not isn't the issue - they did a risk assessment and decided that their children were safe. The worst thing that could happen, did.
How many people do the same thing at these complexes and how many children have come to harm? Only one.
Would I have done it before Madeleine disappeared? No, I don't think so. Would I do it now? Definitely not.
It's done - now let's find the child.

Warners don't encourage people to leave children alone unsupervised. They offer services and offered them to the McCann party. They refused and wanted to do things their way. They were stupid, reckless and thoughtless.
I know no one person who has done this or would say it was responsible parenting.
NOT ONE!

Faith has answered this for me.Ive never condoned the fact that they left their children,in fact at the beginning I was disgusted that they had done it,but i realise that they must be feeling the worst anyone could feel, and so like Faith says, some people dont condemn.

No one condones the fact that McCann babies were left alone. Even those who support the McCanns in their search for their Madeleine & who do not believe that they murdered her, have never ever condoned leaving those babies unattended.
We just choose not to CONDEMN them for it. They're condemned for life, as it is.

how many people have you see that say they condone it?
you're setting up a straw man.
I have seen a few people say they understand it, and understand how a person could feel safe and feel that their kids were reasonably secure.
I have seen a few people who say that - without hindsight - they may have done something similar in a similar situation.
I have seen a few people who say they have left their children for a few minutes or more, when they have had to.
I have seen _NO ONE_ who says they generally condone the leaving of children without proper safeguards
