It depends on the type of swordtail you have. There is a type in Mexico where the sword can get up to 8". I've seen these from people that collected them in the wild and I've seen these with some hobbyists though I've never seen them in a pet shop or available from a breeder. There are some livebearer groups that may have this type of swordtail available. These need a large long aquarium and usually 1 male to several females. A good guality swordtail with a 6"+ sword is one of the most beautiful things you'll ever see in an aquarium. When this is a planted aquarium with a lot of open space it's just amazing.

Swordtails grows to 4"-5", measured from the nose to the caudal peduncle (base of the tail, fins not included).

8-12 cm not including sword length. Females grow largest.
