Mmm Nyerere and Nkrumah and their United African idea. Well it was a good PAN-AFRICAN idea but it was doomed to fail if you ask me. Africans are to divided and complicated in mentality to unite like that. I personally like the current system.

Perhaps in another 2 or 3 hundred years

You are going to have difficulties whenever you try to unit several indipendant states under one umbrella.

Before the EU we had variouse thinkers on the idea of a united Europe (Hitler, Napoleon, Cesar). America had a bit of a hard time when its idea of uniting the states via a federal framework came under question (Civil War).

Whatever happens in Africa will probably be bloody and drawn out, just like everywhere else.
