We have a 35ft x 12ft willerby mobile home that we have been living in on our land in france while our house has been built. My husband does not want it to stay on site as its ugly. (well they are really) We have 2 acres here and we are finding it difficult to sell it, people want it for free!!!! So I would like it for extra accommodation if we should need it. But I was thinking maybe we could disguise it to make it look like a log cabin. Not only would this keep it cooler in the summer but it would work the other way around in the winter. (we have planning permission for 2 dwellings) Has anybody done this?

The log home idea I think is great, make sure you add a pitched roof (plywood, and shingles) with a large overhang and porch/deck Skirt the outside with some faux stone and you have a summer cabin

In the mid-west United States a lot of people disguise their mobile homes so tornadoes can't find them. As you explained, in France you have a different motivation.

Adding a permanent foundation and vinyl siding are recommended. http://www.mobilehomerepair.com

Change the siding to a siding that homes in your area have. Or maybe make the roof pitched if it is not already. Landscaping and a foundation helps.
