1)Big names approached the McCanns but they chose this rather obscure channel instead, because they believe it will reach the kind of audience they want. ( advised by PI not Mitchell)
The couple gave the interview to Antena 3 instead of some of the big names who have approached them, including Oprah Winfrey, the American broadcaster, because of sightings of the little girl nearby and because they believe, according to heir spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, it is where Madeleine is "most likely to be".

2)The McCanns have admitted for the first time that they hired private investigators.
3)During they interview they are adamant that they” believe that their fiends are innocent 100%”

I am speculating that the McCanns have some evidence gathered by private investigators that Madeleine is in that region and the appeal is directed to the abductor/s and/or their relatives and accomplice who may be fearful of contacting the police directly.

Please, inform you before, Antena 3 is very important channel in Spain, not an obscure little channel, it's very similar to British Channel 4 or ITV. Besides this channel is specialised in this sort of programs of current events.
Second, Gerry said they chose them because Spain is close to Portugal and they want to change their image in Portugal and be seen by the Portuguese people how they really are and not how some portuguese press said.
Well I thought you were one of those pro-McCanns but your question seems made by an anti, lol.

While I agree with all you say Shady, the question MUST be asked: Have Kate & Gerry McCann no respect for ANY law, whether it be Portuguese or British? I can't understand how people can fete these two, knowing that through their neglect - which is PROVEN - their daughter is missing and more than probably dead. And, just a thought; How can the McC's go on a chat show when they are official suspects and therefore not supposed to speak to anyone about the case? And if they are not in it for the money (and I'm the VM!!) why are they allowing a bidding war to go on?

One could speculate in several ways about the choice of Spanish station Antena 3’s “360 Degrees” programme for the interview.
The newly-launched phone line is confidential and will be operated by private investigators in Spain.
If the McCanns believe their daughter to be alive, then it is possible they are hoping for information about her that could not be given to the police directly. (as per the question)
If she is no longer alive, then this phone line could also serve to receive an anonymous tip as to where she is buried.
(there had reports of suspicions, perhaps unfounded, about a certain trip to Huelva, Spain by the McCanns)
For whatever reason, the parents do seem to believe Madeleine is in Spain, to answer your question, toit-et-moi.
Also, one could speculate that Antena 3 was chosen, because the Portuguese police allowed the McCanns to use ONLY this rather obscure channel.
It has been suggested that Portuguese police may have agreed to the interview - which seems to breach Portugal”s strict privacy laws - in a bid to trap the McCanns.
Giving the McCanns the green light to make broadcasts may be a police tactic, sometimes used in investigations, to let those under suspicion speak out on television in case they trip themselves up.

I agree with Faith.
I think they have reason to believe she is in Spain.
One of my concerns is that because this is such a high profile case and has been from the beginning, this may have been a kidnapping that got out of hand. The kidnapper is probably freaking out now, afraid to release Maddy because he will get caught. I hope he is not torturing or molesting the poor girl.
I have a feeling that whoever took her, cut her hair and is trying to pass her off as a boy, which would have worked except for that distinguishing mark in her eye.
For heaven's sake if anyone sees a young child wearing dark glasses, look twice!
I do believe Kate is right, someone out there knows something.

now if you want to bring as much attention as possible you would use the biggest channels and shows who have the most viewers, why would you use some obscure tv channel to appeal for maddies return.
im sorry that just not make sense to me at all.
all this from advice given by clarence a man who now is an expert on child abduction too it seems how the hell can he possibly comment on where maddie could be held something smells here.
and well said ladybugs it doesnt make sense at all.

If thats the case why did Kate give an interview to a very popular US magazine that allowed her picture to be on the entire front cover with just a little thumbnail you can barely see of Madeleine? Seems a bit hypocritical if you ask me.

If they do have some information as to her possible whereabouts, why no direct appeal to whoever has her, that's what I find strange. All I can really say though is that I hope your speculation is correct.

The Oprah Winfrey interview is on hold. They are not going to ignore the American "market". All in good time.

If they believed she had been abducted they would have hushed down media attention from the beginning not drummed it up. Because of the amount of publicity - which they courted and actively encouraged right from the start - any would be abductor is put in a terrible position and would have probably harmed her as a result rather than doing the usual which is dropping the kid off after a few days.
I think she may have come to harm in the apartment and a dead body disposed of.

That's the way I read it.
Well, it is interesting to see that they are spending the money in the Fund in looking for Madeleine. Although they aren't allowed to use pi's in Portugal, they have reason to believe Madeleine could be in Spain.
