I need to use a lip pencil because my upper lip is ****** up.Then I apply a lipstick with a lip brush. Now that I'm in my 40's, I'm getting these ugly verticle lines above and below my lips, and the lipstick bleeds. Help!!??

okay...the first thing you need to to is to go to a spa and get a chemical peel or something that will sort of help smooth out those lines. Make sure that you use a good moisturizer on your face. I too would recommend that you go to a dermatologist because they would have a good idea for your skin treatment. As for the lip color goes try this approach: Apply chap stick first and then wipe it off. Next apply a lip liner that is slightly darker than the color of lipstick that you will use. Rub your lips together to get the lip liner blended in a little. Then apply the lipstick, but don't get it to the very edge of your lips. Rub your lips together again. Hopefully your lip color will stay in place. Try to use a more matte color than a really glossy one. I wish you the best of luck :)

There's a young lady who asked about starting smoking, and I wish you would find her question and answer it.

I would suggest speaking to your doctor and seeing if he or she can suggest some creams or aloe lotions you might be able to apply to your skin.

Softening the skin might help. Smoking may have contributed to the problem, but a lot of time outdoors could have as well. Also possibly use of makeup.

Good luck. 40's is a pretty young age. I'm a former smoker--male--and haven't had any skin problems. I'm now 66.

You definitely need to try Clinique All About Lips. It's $20, but worth every penny! It smooths out lines on your lips, exfoliates dead skin, and leaves your lips feeling like silk. Definitely worth trying out. There's also a lip balm that really moisturizes and you use at nighttime.

You know the best solution? Get permanent lip color for your lips! My granny did this and she's 85. Hers looks so natural!
They did a lip liner and fill color. It's awesome!
