The Faces of Fire
© By Kaitlynne L. Birkett

The fire sprints across the plain,
it's breath destroying
all in it's path.
Destructive.
It's red tongue
laps up the brush,
leaving behind only ashes.
Yet miles away,
the fire sits calmly
warming
a cold family's hands.
It is their solace
for all the pain.
The fire burns
in the family's hearts,
angered by their loss.
It dances and leaps,
yet in the end,
always dies.

liek is it a ode or a ballad or a limerick etc.....?

This is free verse (no discernible rhyme scheme or formal meter). There is plenty of poetry that does not fall into a classifiable category like sonnet, lyric, ode, epic, etc.
