i mean, many people deal with depression at some point in their life. i know, i'm not alone in my other addictions. yet, i can't seem to form the words that would allow me to get help. i don't believe it's pride. but, it seems like it should be easier.

shouldn't it?

Well I have never tried therapy, it seemed a bit weird for me as I have never thought of myself as a crazy person. But I have had a serious depression and found that it was only when I found someone that I could open up to and express my deepest feelings to that it started to get better.

The main thing is it something that you can describe, such as an event, that is the root cause of the problem, or it is just a malaise that had come about that you can't describe.

If it is something that you can describe to then try and find that person that you can open up to. Make sure it is someone who is able to listen well and not try and fix it though, because the fact is that YOU are the only person that can make yourself happy again.

If it is something that you can't describe then go and see some one professional, because it may be a deeper cause than you can find on your own.

Think of your situation as standing at the bottom of some steps (that unfortunately you can't see the top of), the only way you are going to start climbing those stairs and get out of your depression is to take that first step.

I hope you can find the courage, you are a good person and deserve alot more happiness.

The feeling of vulnerability and opening yourself to others is hard to overcome, but after you do a whole new world might open up to you. Just give it a try, I've been in therapy for 3 years now and I'm slowly starting to see the light.

Maybe you are just embarrassed? Sometimes it's easier in certain situations; maybe you should try talking with strangers (support groups, doctors) instead of asking old friends for help.

You think that you can help your self. A lot of people think that if they just wait it out, it will go away. But it doesn't.

perhaps you'd feel better if you posed your question to the confidentiality of a trained professional.
