Maybe you could start a business in an area you know something about?

In my opinion its all about trust. Whay should someone trust you to supply what they need? Focus on building trust with your potential customers. This is really home/building maintenance I think. . That's what you should offer. You then supply the expertise. Best solution is work for someone you know (who trusts you) using tradespeople that you know (that you trust), do a good job then word of mouth will supply you with new contracts...if you've done a good job. Make up leaflets and post em through people's doors. Offer references, free quotation. You should also become a member of a relevant trade association if that's possible. You could also act as the labourer: the assistant to your electriciians etc. that way you will keep on top of what they do and you save a bit of money and it will keep you fitter. I know someone who does that.

Advertise ...

NB. if you have to ask this questioon you are on the way to fail ...
search the web for 'small business advise' .. and maybe consider taking a Business Course (or go to evening classes) and LEARN UP QUICK ... (it's a hard world and you are up against others who know 10x's what you do .. if you are not careful some-one will eat your business for breakfast ..)
