Is it a good idea? I want to know your opinion. Also, could you read my opinion, and tell me if you agree with it or not. Thanks for reading and answering.

I don't believe it is, only because once recognized, they will all be able to buy a lot of weapons and in the future may go to war with each other. Also, splitting into 3 parts, makes a foreign invasion a lot more plausible of one of the parts. I also believe that the Shiites will eventually take over the Sunni area and the then the Kurd area of Iraq and rule over them, taking much of the oil profits for themselves. So, in conclusion, I see the idea of splitting Iraq into three parts as a faster way toward military conflict between the "countries".

Actually the population killed is close to 1 percent. About 200-300,000 out of a total of 25,000,000. There are 2-3 million refugees, in fact Syria has taken in over a million from what I know. Most Iraqis don't have enough water, food, electricity, gasoline for their cars, they don't feel safe in their neighborhoods. I understand that this is a terrible situation.

It would be hard for the US to do that, since we've made such a big deal about "establishing democracy" there. Of course, democracy will never work in Iraq, for the same reason it won't work in Africa. These are tribal and feudal people, and don't have the social structures or sophistication to support a functioning democracy. The same thing would have happened if someone had tried to force democracy on 12th century Europe.

That being said, the only long term solution in Iraq is a monarch/dictator, or a partition of the country.

Definitely a Bad Idea. You ask Why, I'll tell you why:

-First of all it's "Illegal" according to international law to devide a country under occupation. so it's absurd to even suggest such a thing. the U.S. of A. shouldn't mistake itself to be above the law.

-2nd, the US invasion of Iraq was the worst thing that happened to the Iraqis since Saddam Hussein. Some facts: 7% of the Iraqi population were killed since the invasion. 2 500 000 are refugees and the country is in total meltdown.

-3rd, there is no good outcome what so ever in the division unless you consider intensifying sectarian violence to be good.
In conclusion, instead of the divide-and-conquer way of thought which is the Iraqis' problem in the first place, Americans should work to enhance the sense of unity, patriotism instead of religious and extremist thinking plaquing Iraqis causing all sectarian violence that's tearing the country apart.

PS: another good idea would be to take the troops home...

I am skeptical that if you split them up they will go to war with each other.

What would more concern me is that they would go to war with the other neighboring states.

An independent Kurdistan will very likely go to war with Turkey to acquire the remainder of the Kurdistan area.

And the Shitte area will have a complex relationship with Iran. They could become there puppet or on the opposite extreme could start a revolt and war in the adjacent Arab areas of Iran.

Some have suggested the idea of a soft partition to over come these problems while still retaining the benefits of a partitioned Iraq.

I still have not decided if I like the idea though, I want to see first if the Shiites want that.

Its probably easier to split it into Two Parts, kinda of like in Latin America. Part One= Rich, Part Two=Poor

I agree with you. Splitting it seems like just a "quick fix". It would be inevitable that they would go to war with each other and end up worse than when we started over there.
