Money is simply a widely-owned commodity used to facilitate the exchange of goods. There is nothing evil about it.

Government, on the other hand, has murdered millions, if not billions of people throughout history (especially in its genocidal "wars"), runs the largest protection racket of all time (the protection money of course is euphemistically referred to as "taxes"), and constantly enslaves people by engaging in the immoral act of obstructing a consensual activity. Government was responsible for the institution of slavery and itself routinely uses slavery for its acts of mass murder that it calls "wars."

Why is it that so many people accuse money of being the root of all evil when it is very obvious that government is the true root of all evil?

"...Why is it that so many people accuse money of being the root of all evil?"

Because government is often nothing more than an organized effort at control of money, and the power that it entails. In the US, statutes like the "Racketeering, Influence, and Corrupt Organizations Act" (aka RICO) essentially details the lengths that some crime gangs go through to maintain their hold on money making operations. When such people are office holders (either by political stealth or acumen, or by force of arms) then the governments that they represent are usually legal but their activities remain generally criminal when viewed by world bodies. This is a rather old discussion of the differences of "Rule Of Law" versus "Rule By Law." Evil governments generally write and use laws to more easily control their access to wealth and power. So in essence, money (and the power that it brings) remains at the heart of the evil.

Well, first to qualify the question, you'd have to tell me which Government you are talking about. Its so easy for liberals to bash America for instance, but America is different for the most part because we have a freedoms, like free trade system. The market is made up of millions of consumers, and they as an unconscious part to what works, what is fad and all other articles/service for sale. If someone goes out of business you can hardly blame the market. Perhaps it was a bad product...maybe it was before its time...maybe it was just bad luck.
And before crying for the dead, tell me of one country that hasn't had a war ?.....oh..maybe Switzerland....but now as a result of not engaging in conflict and trying to appease the masses they are being torn by the large muslim population whom settled their peacefully enough, but are now demanding to be accomodated. That's the problem with Multi-culturalism. You can respect other people's culture without giving into it because our nation has an identity and culture all its own and you either join to be apart of it.....or else your nto a real American Then again, I suppose one could look at the merits in Communism or facism, or maybe a goold old fashioned dictatorship. Try as you may, I can match you 10 autrocities to 1 regarding America. We can't say we've done things right all the time, but we can at least say we tried with good intentions and for the most part we have a winning record. After all who do you think ponied up the money to rebulid Japan and Germany after WW2 ? When you can say truthfully that people like Hitler, Moussillini, Saddam Hussein and like minded rulers would simply turn over a new leaf or leave from power just through talk, then I'd agree, we don't need wars.
So not all Governments are created equal. Some are sufficient, some are bad....I can't say any are per se good, just necessary.
I for one am frustrated that there's no direcdt way to slap our senators when they are lying and being stupid. Sure, I can vote them out, but one person changes nothing. It would take all the states to vote out all the bad people to make a significant change. So, a scinical view would be.....all Government is known to be evil LOL......But it is started in the Bible that the love of money is the root of all evil. At least with money..you have a choice.

It isn't the root of all evil, but money is a big root of evil, but it is greed the lust for that money which makes it the root of very much evil. Many, many unscrupulous things have been done in pursuit of money. Government and Religion are both also high on the list of causes of evil and particularly when mixed, see the crusades and the inquisition for a prime example.
