True sorrow springs from the destruction of hopes and desires. The desire to see a loved-one continue living, the hope to enjoy a sunny day, etc. These are not needs (breath, eat, etc). There are some who must face the destruction of their hopes and desires on a more regular and deeper level than others. I wouldn't say the Palestinians are the happiest (or even normally happy) group of people I've ever met.

I feel i must agree with many of the answers given. But at the same i must disagree. We all share the emotions equally. sorrow and dispair dig at our hearts equally. but as to the amount. It cannot be equal. for our life experiances are not equal. those that are happy are those that choose to be. In spite of what life has given them. Now that is not to say that there aren't that must feel sorrow. for without sorrow we cannot recognize happiness for what it is. But there are those that do not choose to leave there sorrow. And all the same those that do. Simply, sorrow is needed for happiness. but as for equallity. all a person that is both at the same time can experiance equallity at all times.

No.Everyone is different and each has their ups and downs in different percentages. At the moment there are more bad people than good and there are more poor people than rich and the gap is widening. The devil said that people believe in God only when life is good for them. When things turn bad, they cease to believe in God.God therefore, allowed the devil one century in which to exercise an extended power over the world. The devil chose the twentieth century.Today ,as we can see all around us,everyone is dissatisfied, they cannot abide each other .Examples are the number of divorces ,and abortions. Most people, who are still under the spell of Satan are miserable.

well happiness and sadness depends on ur perspective.
for a poor man earning an extra 1000 bucks a month can be an occasion of extreme happiness.
for a rich person not getting 2000 buck dress can lead to extreme sadness and dissapointment.
just that the poor get happy with small things in life and the rich are never happy becoz they dont value small things.
in this way i think poor are more happier than rich.
if ur talking bout the luxuries that the poor cant afford and the rich can afford so that makes rich more happier then its just one way of looking at it, it completely depends upon how u define happiness and sadness and what are ur parameters for happiness and sadness.
i dont think happiness and sadness come to a person equally. 80% of times happiness and sadness depends upon how we interpret a particular situation in our life.its just our outlook towards things that make us happy or sad most of the times.

I concur.
Emotions are equally distributed between everyone in the human race and they are no exclusive to any one race, social class, religious group, etc...
Probably the biggest difference concerning emotions is the range of how an individual person can react to it.

Every life experience is unique to the individual. You can't know by observation alone to what extent and degree other people are experiencing happiness or suffering because most people hide their suffering from others and/or refrain from expressing happiness to the fullest extent.

We all have share of our miseries and pleasures. But there are people who do not take them seriously and know that both conditions are not permanent and they suffer less or feel less suffering.
We deny the real world which is working under certain principles or laws of nature, and we wish that it should happen this way or that way and we creat misery for ourselfves.

No. Actually happiness and suffering depend on perception of a person which in turn depends on various factors like environment, upbringing, hereditary, social, etc. In fact they are very subjective.
