The other replier was wrong thinking each means the same thing.

To abandon oneself would be to cast inhibitions aside, wholeheartedly tackle a project, completely embrace a concept, ideal or lifestyle, fall deeply in love, etc.

I have done this in the past (like with my paintings, my writing, etc.) and will probably do so again in the future. However, I've always been very select towards what I've given my energy, my efforts and my talent towards.

The second part of the question asks do we readily abandon ourselves? This could apply to those fashion and fad and trend followers who always change their style according to whatever is in fashion, or always attend the 'hot' movies out or watch the 'hottest' TV shows because everyone else does. Or this type of person could fall in love easily and completely with everyone they become involved with. These types keep the stores stocked with the latest fashions, keep sales sharp on the the latest tech gizmos and keep daytime talk shows filled with broken-hearted and 'misunderstood' women. These types readily abandon themselves.

Hmm, both phrases sound similar. Thus, there appears to be only one choice and that is actually a straight forward question: do I abandon myself readily?

My answer is "No, not yet." I have more to do in this life.

I abandon myself readily in God's unfathomable mercy.
