What Makes YOU Punk?

In was just wondering what makes other people punk, because everyone has their own views. I mean REAL punk, like Sex Pistols and Ramones.

What punk is to you is what it is to you. If that means following a trend then FINE that's you're thing. If you want to wear a chicken costume and scream "Anarchy in the uk" then fine, whatever. I think punk is expressing yourself the way you want to.

What makes ME punk...Hmm....
Being who I truely am, and not trying to be someone that I'm not. Dressing how I like, and having a unique style all of my own. And, of course, my awesome attitude/personality. =)

Punk is undefinable.. Its a lot like LIFE itself- You lead your life, take other peoples views. You analyse what you think it is make up your own view on it..

You dont just become punk coz you want to be one... You be who you are, dress how you feel like ... listen to music you like.. take noones shi.t.. slowly you realise you are becoming one. Thats when you know what you are turning into..

If you change your own character just so you can fit into the punk culture.. youre another poser.

Punk isnt always about the music.. Its about living the lifestyle.
Supporting the movement, rebelling, standing up for your beliefs.
You can like 50 cent and be punk in your own mind...

a big "finger's up buddy" to the establishment is a good start. if you make it to your thirties and forties and still maintain this attitude despite societal pressure, that's pretty punk. if you've ever been jailed by the witchhunting, tight-***, wide-eyed-with-fear majority, and you still stick to your guns...that's pretty punk. if your mom eventually has to eat her words about how "you'll change when you get older"... that's fairly punk. but REAL punk? to me this is something extremely rare. these are the creme of the crop of people who will take a stand for freedom; regardless of the risks and consequences. people like the boys who stomped british *** in the 18th century after telling king george to go f*ck himself. sadly, the turds allways end up in power eventually. real punks aren't interested in controling the masses. it's our job to be the checks and balances for the turds. gotta freshen the air now and again. I'd rather be dead than be a sheep.......

p.s. the velvet underground, the mc5, and sonic youth are my favorite punk bands ever....

The Ramones are not ******* punk. Even Johnny Rotten said "The Ramones were never punk to me" and they were their frickin' competition at the time. SOoooooooo To call yourself punk, merely means that you are trying too hard

Umm punk is a lifestyle that has pretty much died. I feel this way because it has turned into a scene. scenesters are not punk, nor will they ever be. When it was alive it was about a rejection of society, not about putting on a jacket and wearing the right colors.
