We just found out this past week. We've only been here since April and we just finished paying our $400 for our 2 cats. We don't really want to buy our unit, they are giving us our $600 deposit back can we ask for our pet deposit back? We live in Oregon and I think the new owners handled this wrong. Like I said we don't want to buy our unit but I don't want to really move either.

No that sounds right-they need to give you 120 notice under the laws I am familiar with. It is sad that you will need to move but then again, they can't wait till all leases are up to make changes and some tenants will be unhappy. I would ask for the pet deposit back.

I think your question was can you ask for the pet deposit back? My answer is always yes. Unless you do they can't either yes or no! Odds are they will say not until you move and leave the home spick and span. Make them walk through when you leave and sign off on the good shape of the unit so that they can't come back to you after the keys have been returned. Been there-never again!

If your pets haven't done any damage, then you should get that deposit back just like you get your regular deposit.
