i see kids who practically control their parents..(like screaming..hitting them when they don't get what they want..)
& their parents still obey & bow down to that child..
those type of children deserve spankings every now & then & to learn to show some damned respect to their parents

Unfortunately, I'd have to say that's a pretty good assessment. Parents are letting their children get away with so much more than they should now-a-days, and it's a sad sight to see. Children have less and less respect for their parents, and kids in the United States are becoming "grown" at younger and younger ages. I read about a bunch of 5th graders who started having sex when their teacher walked out of the classroom the other day! It's terrible! If parents would spend some time with their kids, and at the same time not try to their friends, the bond would be much, much better.

I think it is getting weaker. In situations where two parents are present, the majority are both working jobs. Also there are more technological distractions today than before. Less families are going to Church together, which in the past was a strong bond.

With more and more single parent homes, I see parents that are exhausted and don't have the energy to make their kids tow the line. Or the time to talk and meet their friends and hear about what happened at school that day.
I am a single parent, and I would rather hear from my kids and be involved in what they are doing and who their friends are than vacuuming or laundry. In my life it is a trade off and well worth the messy house!

It gets weaker everyday. There are alot of parents who don't spend time with their children. I wish that we had more stay at home parents (moms or dads) because I think that a lot more kids would feel loved. Too many parents work too much.

It depends on the parents, of course. But, as a society, I think there are a lot of problems. Bad or indifferent parenting being somewhere toward the top of that list.
