So im building a pc right now, i was wondering if i should get a SATA optical drive or just stick with my old IED im pullin out of my old pc.

Hi. Not much difference between SATA and IDE for an optical drive. The SATA cable is simple, small, and causes less airflow interference. Performance is not usually an issue.

there will be no performance advantage using a sata ... just connectivity is cleaner without an ide cable ..

have you ever checked the tension to make particular it is not a bad tension? pass it to a diverse laptop as a secondary tension and run chkdsk on it to do away with that from the equation. The tension RPM shouldn't count.
