It seems to me all he does is state what all baseball fans already know. He waffles more than your local waffle house. Tonight he was all but giving the Red Sox the series, when during the ALCS, he gave the series to the Indians, but during the ALDS, even though the Indians were up 2 games to 1, he kept riding the Yankees coattails saying the Evil Empire will prevail. Can we please have a series without McCarver?

As for Joe Buck, he wouldn't even have a job if it wasn't for his dad. Jack Buck was a pleasure to listen too. I guess maybe Joe's mom had an affair, because he sure in hell doesn't have Jack's DNA!

Well Gene, since you asked me, I'll tell you who I would prefer...Tony Gwynn (LLB and manager of SDSU), Jim Palmer (Orioles), Mike Hegan (Indians), Bert Byelven (Twins), Ray Fosse (A's), Jeff Brantley (Reds), Cookie Rojas (Marlins), Steve Blass (Pirates), Bob Walk (Pirates) or Don Sutton (Nationals). All of which is better than McCarver.

As for the play by play man, give me Bob Uecker any day of the week. He can make something out of a 12 run debacle, he's had practice with the Brewers.

i was talking to my mom about how much i hate joe buck and tim mccarver. they just have about written off the rockies. they might as well have handed boston the world series trophy and let all of the players fly back to their homes in florida. terrible announcers!

McCarver and Buck are bad, but I think Joe Morgan is still the worst individual. How he keeps on winning Emmys is beyond me.
As for who most of us would like, I think the answer is "nobody." Give us the useful info, maybe even by the stadium announcer, and let us watch the game. It works at the park, and I think it would work at home.

No, YOU are the worst analyst of all time. McCarver is often boring but he does have his days. Stop being so negative. Tell us who you would like. Do you even know? There isn't a single person here on Y/A who will say they don't mind McCarver because they're afraid of looking bad. He's not the best, but he is far from the worst, too. I'm sticking up for him because not ONE of you pundits has ever said, "Boy, I wish so and so was announcing." You're all on some negative bashing "I don't like anyone so I'm really smart" craze. WHO THE FRICKIN' HECK DO YOU WANT?

If it really bothers you, and he's not that bad, especially when they are up by 12 runs and even Michael Kaye would not sound bad, you can turn off the TV sound and put on ESPN radio anywhere in the country. If you are lucky enough to be in New England, you can turn off the TV sound and put on WEEI. Joe Castiglione's familiar voice getting excited when you do would be the best alternative.
