Ok I must admit, although a big fan of football, I'm american so i can only catch matches when I travel. I was so excited to see the gunners 7-0 drubbing in this week's UEFA match. Towards the end I see Gilberto come into the game. WTF? He used to be the captian? What happened? Was he injured? Is someone better than him now? From the 30 minutes I saw him play it looks like he still has it!

Gilberto went to Copa America over the summer. He was then given his normal holiday. Therefore he came back later then the rest of team. When he came back late Wenger handed the Captaincy to Gallas so team cohesion and chemistry could start building early. When Gallas has been injured Wenger has given Toure got the armband.
Flamini took the role of center midfielder as Gilberto was gaining covering for injured captain Gallas. Flamini has been so good that Gilberto has been on the bench.
Gilberto was not injured he has just been replaced with a youngster. Lack of playing time could see him leaving which is a shame Gilberto is class but Falmini is on unbeatable form.
