No other company had the potential to be able to do the job on short notice.
Just forexample, you just find out that you have to send 10,000 troops to east jebip starting immediately. Each will require 2 meals a day starting Friday. There is no time for bidding, only Haliburton can do it.
You screw around with bids, see who else can do it, and you;'re going to have a lot of very upset, hungry men on your hands.

The Bush family is invested in Haliburton.
The real question is this: when did the U S military stop providing its own field support? Why don't they bring their own food and supplies? Why do American taxpayers bear the cost of private contractors like Haliburton and Blackwater? These guys cost about triple what this kind of support would be if it was kept in-house (Haliburton truck drivers make about $100K annually, Blackwater security forces make $10K to $30K a MONTH!
Is the military not able to recruit support personnel, or does it just look better in budget meetings? Or, are the Bushes not the only politicians invested?
What's up?

Funny how the major shareholders of Haliburton were, and are, Democrat king-pins...
The Bosnia thing was fairly profitable for the company. But it's a doggy stock, and, unlike Michael Moore and Barbara Boxer, I'd probably be too conservative to risk buying shares in it.
