If i make the HP recovery CDS/DVDS on my computer as of this point. Is it going to make a backup of the present state of the computer or when I first got it because I want to do a reformat of the computer but keep all the HP stuff that it came with. Thanks.

Generally HP creates a special partition that is only seen by their Restore CD/DVD creation software. This partition has all the necessary data that will restore your computer to pristine factory condition.

You simply start the process to create the Restore CD(s)/DVD(s) and the computer will burn the information from the "hidden" partition to the CD(s)/DVD(s).

You will, of course, keep the resulting CD(s) or DVD(s) safe and out of harms way, so that you can use them when the time comes.

I believe it would do it from the this point instead of when the system was created. The best thing to do is to order the cd from HP

it will only make a disk of the unit like it was when you first got it,because the recvoery portion is on a hidden partition.try the links below.pay close attention to the second link, the third link is like the first one,but for vista.
