When someone is confined to one part of the room, in a cube, or in front of the television, I believe it creates isolation.

Isolation from homework, doing chores, doing stuff, skipping family meals together, and exercising.

It may for some - if they would rather play with their computers than socialize.

For others it can relieve boredom or lonliness - expecially now with so many people working, rushing home to pick up the kids and/or make dinner. People don't sit on their porches anymore and "neighbor." In this instance, the computer becomes their friend.

maybe not isolation...as it brings more people into "virtual" contact, but one could definitely argue that technology breeds laziness and...in some ways, stupidity. look at the horrid spelling and speech patterns in this site (yahoo answers, not your question) alone, and the number of people looking for handout help on their homework....

Communication is inversely proportional to Transportation. Technology facilitates both - whether you want to meet your friend at a far-away cafe or over videophone is your choice.

Technology even lets you be hiding in video games all year.

So, really, it's your choice that you exercise - technology merely makes it easier either way.

Hmm, let's see......I'm sitting here at my computer in my apartment, where I live alone. When I'm done with the computer, let's see......I'll probably either put on the TV or the radio or, wait, I know, I will listen to Internet radio.

Very much so. Like playing on a computer instead of getting out and talking to my neighbor. Or how about that girl that you would like to talk to, but she has that blue-tooth thing in her ear. It goes on and on...

Yes I do if you are sitting home a computer talking to people you are not getting real contact.
