She is sheltering herself from the world around her with her words.

Yeah I agree with the first answer or building a wall of protection from outside forces. Anything she is afraid of or insecure about. Keeping a wall between her and the outside world. Could be about trapping ones self too. Actually thats what it sounds like more because "words" is in the sentence. If she spins a cocoon with her words. She is sheltering herself somehow from someone or something with her words.

A cocoon is place of solitude, safety and rest for a catepillar that turns into a butterfly right? Then a cocoon for her in this case would be in translation of: 'With her words she spinds herself in a place of familiarity and/or protection.
It depends on the context of the story or poem.

It's a reference to the cocoon that a caterpillar spins as it changes from caterpillar to butterfly. It means that she has somehow put herself in a confined place; whether that is for safety, or whether she has unwittingly restricted herself is difficult to tell without context.

It means she is being defensive, and with her words, creating a safe zone for herself. So rather than adding to the conversation in some way that might put her at risk, she may be surrounding herself with excuses to get out of the hot seat so to speak.
