Its not that he can, women know he will. The great equalizer in that is a smith and wesson and know how to use it well.

I wonder if you're confusing "can" and "should". Of course, most men can overpower most women. The comparison of average women and men's strength suggests as much.
However, your assertion that equality can never be achieved because of this is reductionist and makes me think you're saying that men don't know enough to know that there are certain situations where a man *should* overpower a woman (she tries to strike first, and comes at a man with a baseball bat; he wrestles it away, immobilizes her, and calls the cops) and certain situations where he *shouldn't* (he hits her just because it's "fun", or because she burnt the bacon).
Equality can't be achieved when there are bullies of any sort, of either sex and any gender.

yeah, it's true that most women aren't as physically strong as most men. but that only realy has currency in situations of attack, in civilised spheres there's such an emphasis on knowledge & abilitity so equality is a reasonable thing. i mean in the workplace if you want to win an argument against someone, regardless of sex, you use your mind- right? you don't smack them across the face. so physicality isn't an appropriate/acceptable display of power.
i have to say though that since most of western society values retribution & justice the whole physical power card still has consequences which negate that dominance. ie. we try to equalise that dominance anyway, especially if a male hits a female.
here in australia we had these ridiculous campaigns about violence against women- but there's more violence against men (by men), than there is against women. why doesn't this get its own campaign? maybe equality has already tipped the scales the other way.

In the real world, people operate within societies that have systems of justice in which people work together for mutual benefit and protection. And we don't like people who use physical force to overpower other people unless it is to protect someone else. We lock up such people. And rightly so.
If MOST men decided to just overpower women, perhaps there would be an issue. But only a misandrist would see that as a likely circumstance in our society.

Q: "When it comes down to the wire... a man can always use his physical dominiance to overpower a woman.?"
A: Only a bully - and a moron - needs to resort to physical abuse to 'make a statement'.
I think that sums it up nicely.

Just going to shorten my reply is all Sure a man could use his physical dominance, so can a woman, yet does physical force really solve anything, except to give each other black eyes and fat lips?. Equality can never be achieved when people are in constant disagreement; things in this life never are and never will be 50/50. It's always going to change. The only absolutes in our lives are life, taxes and death.

Physical dominance is not real power. People who use violence or the threat of violence are fearful and weak at heart. Any man who thinks this is the way to overpower or control "his" woman is sadly mistaken. She can always vote with her two feet (i.o.w. she can walk.). A real man would overcome his fears and therefore his need to dominate, and learn to use his mind and his heart in a dance of real love with a real woman.

He he, I think that depends on several factors.
Some men are not as tall and/or strong as some women, and other ladies know how to kick as* and can defend themselves if necessary.
But technically and realistically speaking, most men are able to use their strength to overpower a woman physically, but to me, that has nothing to do with inequality.

Thankfully, though, humanity has risen above that baboon stuff like cannibalism, human sacrifice, slavery and eating the bugs we once picked off each other in our grooming behaviors. Certainly, there are throwbacks. But, we put them in jail or mental institutions. Some socieites execute them and prevent them from breeding.

Not necessarily. Women are sometimes physically stronger.
Did someone say guns are a great equalizer? Excellent. I plan to get a gun license, both to protect myself from my wife as well as strangers and muggers. Only in extreme cases of self defense would I use it.
