Did they buy their team or won fair and square?

Could a case be made for them for being one of the greatest teams of all time?

Had it not been for the 1994 strike, would they have won a third straight title?

Who could have stopped them with this lineup:

Rickey Henderson LF
Devon White CF
Roberto Alomar 2B
John Olerud 1B
Paul Molitor DH
Joe Carter RF
Tony Fernandez SS
Pat Borders C
Ed Sprague 3B

As good as the Jays were (in 93), they were NOT going to win in 1994. In fact, they lost their passion over the winter of 93

In 94, they were under .500, 9 teams had more HRs than them in the AL, ERA was 4.70.

In 93, they had the top 3 batters, Olerud went below .300, (a .066 point drop), Alomar went down almost 30 points.
Molitor was 2nd on the team in RBIs with 75.

Their 3rd, 4th and 5th starters were .500 cummulatively.

We felt the excitement in 93, but in 94, it was gone, so were the crowds. Wonder if the Leafs will ever get that lucky to have their fans desert them.

The '94 Expos were a very special team, and were definitely the biggest victim of the strike that year, without question.

That team was more than good enough to win the World Series, and had that happened, there'd probably still be a franchise in Montreal today.

The '93 Jays were a great team, for sure...I don't know about one of the greatest, but at the very least, had one of the greatest moments ever in the history of the sport.

I doubt the Blue Jays bought a title since they practically kept the same roster from '92-'94. Granted there were personnel changes but the team wasn't dismantled after beating the Braves in '92 or the Phillies in '93. I cant say I resent them nor am I happy for them. They had a good club with very talented players. I think the only team to really buy themselves a championship were the '97 Florida Marlins. After they won, that whole team basically disappeared.

This question is pretty random but good, that lineup is stacked, dang, I didnt remember that. Did they buy it, maybe but I dont care really, as long as I get to see some competetive b.b. worth watching, not the Rockies performance tonight. A few other good lineups around that time, one right before the strike was the 94 Montreal Expos, yes I said the Expos & the 95 Indians, that was a stacked team. Greatest team of all time, I dont think so, a few of those guys were pretty old at that time, but that was the pre roid era so maybe it wouldnt have mattered.

They were a very good team, but they weren't one of the greatest teams of all time.

It's very unlikely they would have won the World Series in '94. At the time of the strike they had lost more games than they won and were about 15 or 16 games behind the Yankees.

One of the best teams ever? Very very good, but no. Resent them? No way. I am a Pirates fan, and the Jays knocked off the Braves (who probably wouldn't have been there, except that Balco Barry Bonds made one the lamest throws in baseball history from short left-center, allowing Sid Bream, one of the slowest runners in baseball history, to score the pennant-winning run.)....I still have a soft spot in my heart for that team.

And the next year? I was a Bucco fan during the 70's, and you know what? I STILL hate the Phillies. Seeing Joe Carter light "Wild Thing" Williams is one of my treasured baseball memories.

Long live the Jays!!!!
