1. I know it's only game one, but does anyone give the Rockies a snowball's chance in hell to win the series?
2. When the Red Sox were up 13-1 after the 5th inning, why not take Beckett out right then (or even earlier) so he's fresher for game 4 (which means he could pitch game 7 if the series goes that deep)? Or do they just figure that Beckett will pitch game 5?

I see that took Beckett out after the 7th inning, but it sounds like they have no plans to use him in game 4. As one answerer said, the Red Sox may not even need him by then.

I think the Rockies have a chance, but it's a slim one. Boston is just too good. Go Red Sox!
I'm figuring they must not have been considering using him for game 4, though I don't know who they plan to use in his place.

I'm not sure why Beckett was left out there for seven innings but I do know he wont start Game 4. According to what was said on Fox, Francona plans on using Beckett for Game 5 and if necessary relief for Game 7. As for the Rox, well they have a good team but I doubt they can win the Series. The best chance they have is to split in Boston and sweep in Denver since the NL rules will deny Boston an extra bat.

1. The Rockies have as good a chance as anyone. Give them this game to get thier timing back after 9 days off.
2. You have to leave Beckett in because when the games go to Colorado there could be alot of scoring and a lot of innings being pitched by the bullpens of both teams.

Tim Wakefield took himself out of the World Series roster so John Lester will be pitching game 4 either way. Beckett will get normal rest for the possible game 5. The way things are going, we may not see Beckett again. Also, his pitch count was very low after 6, well under 100 pitches.

Rockies have a shot but not a big one. It seem like the Rocks are just happy to be in the World Series.
The Red Sox left Beckett in to add to his status of a big game pichter. He is also a horse and will be ready when call on by Tito.

I thought the Sox would win (not a fan or hater of them), the Nationl league blows hard, I think that any of the 4 NL teams would not have made the playoffs if they played in the AL, not based on records from this year but just cause the AL has so much more talent & teams with a history where baseball matters in those towns. The NL doesnt have a lot of that, I think it makes a differencee.
