Nope. You have read correctly about Rafalski. Give Lidstrom enough time, and before you know it, he will be back in Norris Trophy form (for my fantasy hockey team's sake)!

No. Rafalski is an excellent offensive player, and playing with Lidstrom makes him even better. Don't get yourself wound up over this, though. Lidstrom is still, by far, a better overall defenseman. There's more to being an elite defenseman than being good on the power play.

Rafalski often led the defence in pts on the Devils when Nieder was there. For some reason he would get the nod on the power play even though he wasn't as good. His shot it slow (praised as deflectable).
He is among the most loyal guys out there and just like the disloyal S.N. will probably get much more press in the West. Most think he played poorly for the Devils last year.
I forget which player said it but Rafalski size doesn't make him weak. The player picked him as the toughest to play against and mentioned his lower body strength in particular.

I don't care who gets the points as long as the Wings make another solid run at the Cup. Besides, if you are going to be point focused, consider the performance of Zetterberg for the start of the season. Let the point scorers score points and the defensemen prevent points, and have it end in victories. They don't need Lidstrom racking up points right now.

RAFALSKI IS HOT
3 pts in last 2 GP!
Is an extremely intelligent player and skates very well along the blueline. Can be a terrific power play quarterback and steadying influence from the back end. Wish he wasn't so wittle : (

Lidstrom is famous for slow starts. By Christmas he'll be up there. Besides, he is a defenseman...it shouldn't be a concern for Red Wings fans. Let Zetterberg and Datsyuk (etc.) take care of business of front.

I am sure Lidstrom cares less as long as the team keeps winning.
